California Gov. Signs Bill To Jail Or Fine Photographers
Wednesday, September 25, 2013 7:32

Paparazzi and others who harass the children of public figures will face tougher penalties under legislation that California Gov. Jerry Brown signed Tuesday.
Celebrities such as actresses Halle Berry and Jennifer Garner urged lawmakers to support SB606. Berry testified before several legislative committees that her daughter has been intimidated by aggressive photographers who follow them daily, often shouting as they snap pictures.
This bill is ridiculous for many many reasons. First and foremost it obviously infringes on people’s rights. Secondly, these famous people know damn well what they are putting their children through. It is part of being famous. If you dont want your children to be harrassed then quit. To me this bill is them not taking responsibility. Yes, the paparazzi are scumbags but at the sametime, it’s their right to be scumbags. it is not illegal to take pictures of anybody, including the police but thats another issue, nor is it illegal to say something like, “hey so and so, let us take your picture, c’mon so and so, stop for just a minute, let us take your picture.’ Its annoying, it has pissed off many people more than once, but it is not illegal. Get a grip people… -Mort

California is a lost cause. Let them implode from their own psychotic liberal self-destruction.

It really is incredible. Many of these so-called “stars” go into a career panic when they’re not getting publicity. They stage stunts to get in the news, when their careers are flagging. Their egos devour getting noticed, “Notice me! Notice me!” They make themselves camera magnets, then complain on the days they don’t want publicity, as if they fancy they should have a personal press machine they turn on and off. I remember once seeing an interview with Michael Jackson, how, woe is me, he gets no escape of that evil press, yet, the next minute, he’s doing all sorts of things like hanging his baby over a balcony, in publicity stunts to sell some CDs. But you better believe they’d be besides themselves if the press just went home and forgot about them. Just a bunch of slimy hypocrites.

I don’t think this law will stand up to a constitutional lawsuit. The polliticians got ahead of themselves again. All you have to do is say poor children and they will do whatever you want them to.
The photographer goes to jail but not the news media that uses the footage. I’ll bet that was added as a paean to the media.

Now, you know these celebrities are famous, and rich, and they may even have some power, but even so, they are slaves like the rest of us, and you know the government and the legislators do not really care about their comfort. It is more laws they want. That’s it. More excuses to arrest people, especially now that the cops have quotas and incentives to make arrests, whether or not they lead to convictions, and the corporate prisons are so hot to make their own contractual quotas for filling their beds.
Consider the degree to which the cops are camera shy, and the banks shrink from having their buildings photographed. How damning it is to these people to have their crimes revealed by photograph and video. And ask yourself, who will really benefit from limiting the presence of photographers in public?
Consider it is already illegal to photograph industrial farm animal abuse and war crimes, while many cities and states are working to criminalize photography of police.
Now, let’s all sit back and watch as the stories roll in to the news, about innocent people whose only crime is standing in the street holding a camera, or taking pictures of their own kids, or any of huge numbers of photographers out there who are not paparazzi, who will be harassed and arrested falsely, their bodies beaten, their cameras confiscated or broken, only to be released (considering they live through their brutal arrests) because of the discovery of their innocence, only after the fact.
Keep an eye on Youtube. We’ll be seeing them soon.
