WeChat introduces Message Recall on WeChat 5.3.1

Has it ever happened that you send a message and later realise that it wasn’t meant for the one who received it, or maybe that message shouldn’t have been sent to anyone at all. Well that rarely happened in the good old days of text messaging. Even if it did, you could still defer it from sending if you are quick enough. But with everyone moving to the new simplified messengers, the volume of messages being shared has gone up. There are times when we wish we could just stop a message from going through or somehow delete it from the recipient’s device. Thankfully WeChat has added a really smart feature that would allow you to recall any message instantly.

On the WeChat 5.3.1 for Android and iOS, they have added this Message Recall feature. Using this feature, you can recall any message sent within the last two minutes. To do this, the sender would just have to hold the message and select the Recall option from the menu. The message would disappear like it was never sent. This is even better than the option to prevent a message from going through. With the new update, WeChat has added many other features that would prove to be useful.

One of the new features on this version is the addition of Tags. You can tag your contacts with different keywords so that it would be easy to find people. You can add keywords like ‘College’, ‘Work’, ‘Family’ etc. to your contacts. It would not only help you find people faster but also help when creating group chats. To add tag to a contact, select a name in the ‘Contacts’ tab, tap on the settings icon, select ‘Set Remarks and Tags’ and you can simply insert the keywords in the ‘Tag’ field.

This version also allows you to save your favourite messages in one place. This way you can view them quickly without having to browse through all the messages individually. To add messages to favourite, all you have to do is long press a message, select ‘More’, choose the messages and tap the ‘Favourite Messages’ icon. The WeChat 5.3.1 has also got a neat UI which allows for easy navigation around the app. You can find the latest version of WeChat for your Android and iOS devices at the respective app stores.
