Federal brings more .40 S&W, .45 Auto loads to consumers

Federal expands its Premium Hydra-Shok Deep loads, adding new options for .40 S&W and .45 Auto fans. The new loads join the 9mm Luger Hydra-Shok Deep variant.
The .40 S&W version delivers 165-grains while the .45 model is packed with 210-grains. Federal said the Hydra-Shok Deep provides 15-inches of penetration in bare ballistics gel in addition to heavy clothing.
The company also reports the handgun ammunition boasts significant improvement in FBI protocol scores. The ammo features Federal’s specifically formulated propellant paired to its proprietary primer.

“In 2018, Federal reinvented the proven Hydra-Shok bullet design with Hydra-Shok Deep in 9mm Luger. Now, it has expanded the line with new loads in 40 S&W and 45 Auto,” Federal said in a news release. “The bullets feature a more robust center post and a core design that penetrates to critical depths through common self-defense barriers, without over-penetrating.” The new .40 S&W retails for $31.95 while the .45 Auto loads are priced at $33.95.
