Lonely Conservative
About Update 12/1/09: I wrote the following about a year ago. It’s a bit stale. Life is a journey, and one thing I’ve learned in my time blogging is to constantly question. Am I a republican? Yes, I’m registered as a republican. That doesn’t mean I believe every politician with an R after their name is on our side. I haven’t switched to independent because if I do I won’t be able to vote in primaries. While I try to follow the news of the day, there may be times I go off on a tangent – it’s usually something out of history. I’m a firm believer in learning from history. We’re all human. We all make mistakes. The only way to keep from repeating those mistakes is to recognize them. So please continue with me in my quest for the truth about those who hold power in our government. There’s only one way to defeat the statists – expose them and debunk their memes. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s a battle worth fighting. **************** I am married to a great guy and we have two young sons. It’s my job to raise them to be responsible, independent and moral human beings. I have a full time job that has nothing to do with politics or this blog. I understand that life isn’t always easy but if we work hard and make responsible choices we will be fine. If you work hard and are good at what you do you just may carve out a nice little life for yourself. I did. I believe that those of us who make the right choices should not be required to pay for those who don’t. I work to benefit myself and my family, period. I also don’t expect another to work to support me. I am happy to contribute to charity and do so regularly. I tend to vote Republican because Republicans are the lesser of two evils. Every now and then a good one comes along and I will do everything I can to support that individual. Most of my family members are conservative, like me. But I have a lot of friends and co-workers who totally disagree with me politically. On occasion I do try to change their minds, but for the most part I try my best to avoid the heated debates (which sometimes turn into name-calling arguments), because even though we may disagree about politics I still love these folks. Maybe I should try to be more subtle. Feel free to send me an email at [email protected]
