I’ll keep this pithy m’Lady.

The ONLY thing D’Souza gets right in the below is the year – 1860. While similar elements are in play, the ideologies and roles are oceans apart.

Our Southern brethren did not threaten riots, and we peacefully seceded. However, in Lincoln’s first inaugural address, he threatened both an ILLEGAL INVASION and BLOODSHED if the South did not pay his taxes. And the only hint regarding slavery was a veiled constitutional amendment that he supported, the Corwin Amendment, which guaranteed perpetual slavery TO KEEP THE SOUTH IN THE UNION…which the South turned down!  

The political landscape then is much different than now, as the Democrats then were far more constitutionally adherent to Jeffersonian principles and the Republicans were known as the Radical Republicans because to quote Jefferson Davis, “The north was blind and mad.” Marxist had infiltrated the party of Lincoln (and many institutions) beginning in 1848 and they pressed for a Marxist / Socialist society. What failed for them in Europe, they saw an opportunity here, through Lincoln. Even Karl Marx sent letters to Lincoln encouraging and praising him for his illegal war against the South, to include his suspension of habeas corpus in the north to silence critics, of which he imprisoned over 30,000.

What occurred roughly 160 years ago and what is happening now is not like comparing apples to apples…or even apples to oranges.

The difference is like comparing a paper plane to the space shuttle.
