(SouthernCaliforniaWeatherAuthority.com) – A Santa Ana Wind Advisory is in effect at SCWXA for below passes and canyons, which may disrupt travel today. Wind gusts over 40 mph cannot be ruled out.

Building offshore gradients will bring gusty winds below passes and canyons on Christmas Eve. So expect gusts out there then … The peak of this event will be on Wednesday, Christmas Day. Then, building gradients over Utah will bring east-northeast winds into the area. Gusts will average 30-35 mph in the advisory zones, with favored passes and canyons over 40 mph.
This pattern favors San Jacinto so Hemet you have been highlighted on the advisory map … but San Jacinto will see the 30 mph wind gusts … not you. Future studies will probably breakdown the Hemet/San Jacinto grid just for these alerts so that Hemet is not highlighted and San Jacinto is … when warranted.
Winds will also reach Escondido, bring the east flow favors that area, whereas the northeast and north flow do not. Expect gusts to reach advisory strength for Tehachapi as well … again east flow favors that area to.
Winds will relax in all grid zones on Thursday and the advisory will be allowed to expire …
