Severe Tstorm – Southern GA and mainly Florida will have severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes as well with this event.  A squall-line should make it over the Peninsula, which is going to be watched for TWS Severe and/or Tornado Watch products in the future …

Rain – Heavy rain expected in these areas …

Ice – This is where mainly ice is expected.  Ice is going to be a major issue in the pink zones, including Atlanta, GA once again.  Do not get stranded out there!  You have your warning!  Because the system is along the coast (as first though) Eastern NC will see Ice in East Central and Hatteras the rain.

Snow and Ice – This is where things get ugly.   If in the yellow area you will have snow and then ice, or ice and then snow.  It is the dynamic zone between all snow and mainly ice.  This is the trouble spot, which includes parts of Northern MS/AL/GA/SC and right down Central NC into Richmond VA …

Snow – The outer edge of any snow is where I think at this point … Southern NJ should see less snow than Central/North … as usual with coastal storms .. same as Cape Cod, MA …

Most Snow – This swath is where the heaviest snow will fall.  Some numbers in this exceed a foot but totals cannot and will not be released on this page till confidence is given.  If in this area, you have your warning … Heavy snow is coming so don’t wait for totals … prepare now … This includes Eastern TN, Western NC, Western and Northern half of VA, most of MD including Washington DC, Eastern half of PA … Most of NJ excluding South … Southeast NY and Long Island … all of New England …

THUNDERSNOW AND THUNDER-ICE … Yeah I know … I made the Thunder-Ice part up .. but it’s very likely for some across NC and Southeast VA … Thundersnow however will be extremely likely given the various parameters of upper divergence and lifting profiles in the mid-levels … Thundersnow may be seen across Western/Central North Carolina, moving north across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Eastern PA, Southeast NY and every New England state from CT to ME.
