Carolinas To Receive Flooding, Ice, and Snow Today, Tonight, and Early Friday Morning

(TheWeatherSpace.com) – Both North and South Carolina will have various weather patterns, depending on what section of the state you are in.  Some will see snow, others ice, and others flooding rains through Friday morning.  The ice zone will have power outages due to gusty winds.  Read below for details.

A strong surface low is coming into the area later today and tonight.  This surface low will deepen rapidly, so gusty wind conditions across both Carolinas looks to be likely.  South Carolina is already receiving heavy rainfall with the lifting warm front.  As the storm gains strength, the northwest side of it later through Western North Carolina will bring heavy snowfall.  So areas like Asheville will receive heavy snowfall and some location on those mountains will see 6-10″ of snow … with a foot at higher elevations.  So on the map the 3+ inches is generous and much more will hit.

Between the rain and snow zone is your ice zone.  This goes from Charlotte, NC to Greensboro, NC.  0.10″ of ice is likely, however areas of 0.25″ of ice cannot be ruled out.  Because of the gusty winds + ice, power outages are very likely.  TWS Ice Storm Warnings may be needed for this event and this is being monitored.

As for the flood zones.  Eastern half of South and North Carolinas respectfully have the highest amounts of rainfall.  Calculations of over 2″+ of rainfall, with Northeast SC around and just southwest of Myrtle Beach seeing 3-4″ of rain.  Being the astronomical tide is also high, will go ahead and throw in beach erosion and flooding …
