First Severe Thunderstorm Event Of The Season Targets Southern Plains On Saturday

(TheWeatherSpace.com) – The first severe weather event of meteorological spring targets the Southern Plains on Saturday, bringing damaging winds, large hail, and even a risk of tornadoes, targeting the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex zones at the heart of the dynamics.

The event will cover Southern to Eastern Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City.  A line thunderstorms over the day on Saturday is expected to develop across the severe storm risk (yellow shade) zone.  This will push eastward with time, with some storms lifting northeast into Western Arkansas.
 

Instability profiles suggests the storms will be capable of larger hail as the main concern.  Wind damage is probable, and a tornado risk remains.  I ran the model-mask for tornadoes for this system and the tornado risk seems low, but it is there for them to occur.  The best spots for tornadoes to form will be from Southeast Oklahoma through Northeast and Central Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex zones.
