First Snow To Hit United States Through End Week

Weather Alert Central.com – The first snow is hitting Montana and will slide southward through the Rockies, bringing the first wintry weather as far as Denver, Colorado through Thursday.

Snowfall is falling across Montana today, where light snow is being reported.  Remember the ground is warm so accumulations will not be too much.  Given the fact that accumulations will probably only get as high as 0.1 to 0.5″ in the areas in blue on the map in this article … it’s quite normal for the first snowfall.

The Black Hills across Western South Dakota may see a half inch of snowfall.  Again not much expected.  Snowfall will continue southward through WY and Western Nebraska (Panhandle) with dustings likely.

The question is how far south is this going to go?  This snowfall could reach Denver, but more realistically if it does not … we could see a very small amount of ice pellets … so wintry precipitation for Denver, CO is possible later Thursday.  It’ll be monitored but at the moment it is not so much of a big deal.
