Discussion:  A front draped across the Plains, east-northeastward through MO, including St. Louis … and into IL, IN will be the focus spot for severe thunderstorm development this evening through the overnight hours.

Storms will start across the OK/KS/MO forecast areas first, and they should be away from the Wichita, KS zones so I do not think you’ll get the severer weather at the moment.  These should remain just southeast of you.  The storms will center Joplin, Springfield, and St. Louis, MO.

As evening moves along, low level moisture piling against the front will lower LCL levels across the watch box and with enough shear in the area … combined with a lack of cooling at the boundary layer … a large area of severe thunderstorm and tornado dynamics will be likely …extending overnight into IL/IN …

These storms will be north of the OKC areas … don’t expect much if any there and this alert does not count for you …

In addition to the tornado threat, large hail/damaging winds are likely with these severe storms in and around the watch box area
