The storm system will hit the Pacific Northwest on Thursday, gliding in through Halloween. There will be periods of heavy rainfall with it. The Pacific Northwest is no stranger to the storm pattern as as last Sunday’s forecast foretold, we’d be seeing much above average precipitation. Those forecasts are given every Sunday for the entire United States.
The storm on Halloween across the Pacific Northwest will affect trick-or-treating in some locations. California – California will have the brunt of the thunderstorm dynamics, especially across the Central Valley. On Halloween, we’re expecting instability with the front along with strong upper divergence in the area, which is looking rather widespread at the moment. There will be a chance that severe storms capable of hail/wind threats and even isolated tornadoes could happen within the red-shaded zones, most likely near the Northern and Central San Joaquin Valley for the most severe.
The Sierra Nevada will be measuring snowfall in Feet at the resorts so Mammoth Mountain will get their first good snowfall. Blizzard conditions are possible up there given the strong mid-level jet stream present.
