WARNING: Tornado Risk Elevated For Gulf States This Weekend With Repeat Event

A potent storm system that brought thunderstorms to Southern California on Friday morning before sunrise is moving across the AZ/NM/MX border zone today.  As the storm approaches Texas on Saturday morning, expect rapid height falls and in response to this explosive storm development would occur.  Severe storms are likely for most of Texas with this event from Dallas to Austin, and down into Southern Texas as well.

Overnight on Saturday the line of severe storms will push through Louisiana and by Sunday it will be into MS/AL/FL and GA.  The line of severe storms will have more than enough shear to produce multiple tornadoes.  The hardest hit areas will be the southern half of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia, with the Florida Panhandle also within this zone for tornadoes.  If in these areas this weekend, remain alert to future forecasts.

The storms will extend along the strong instability up through TN as well, with isolated tornado potential being probable there.  The storms will lack the instability to continue further into Eastern TN so you’ll be left out … also the ‘wedge’ will keep storms out of Northern GA and SC … likely even most of NC later on.  NC and SC however will see an upswing in storm activity (mainly east sections) later on Sunday.  The Piedmont of NC looks like it will escape the severe weather to really not looking at much there.  It looks very similar to the last storm event for this entire region so we’ll be going off that.
