✎☂★Damaging Wind Event To Hit Populated Western Oregon and Washington Zones on Thursday

A damaging wind event is shaping up in what looks like a class weather bomb across the Pacific Northwest on Thursday, which will bring down trees and cause some damage through the Willamette Valley to Seattle.  Read on for details.

A weather bomb is coming for Northwest Oregon and Western Washington on Thursday as low level winds work with a deepening surface low pressure center off the coast near Astoria.  This will bring a strong southerly flow through the Willamette Valley and the Puget Sound area.  The strongest winds will be in the Southwest/Western Oregon area where along the i-5 we could see 50 mph or higher … with 70+ mph gusts for the Gold Beach, OR coastal areas.

Portland to Seattle may see 40+ mph wind gusts given the direction of the surface low track … with a bit less widespread winds for Seattle and likely more for Portland.  They’ll be heavy rain in for Western WA/OR on Wednesday before the event, but in terms of Thursday there will be ‘some’ rain in the area, but not flooding … all part in due to the drying air wrapping into the surface low that will cause the sinking air aka wind gusts to surface to populated areas.
