Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 10

Hopefully everyone had a great week in fantasy in week 9! Our start of the week, Demario Douglas, had a solid game. Douglas had 5 catches on 7 targets for 55 yards and on rush for zero yards (10.5 points). A little bit below the projection I gave him but also still a very solid performance as a flex for those struggling with bye weeks/ injuries. I personally started Douglas over Puka Nuka since Matthew Stafford wasn’t able to go. So when I write these articles, just know that I too am starting these players and have conviction in them. FYI I compete in a weekly DFS tournament and every week I make sure to put my start of the week in, no matter what. But just imagine telling someone a few weeks ago that you started Douglass over Puka! People would say you’re crazy but it turns out it was the right call and helped me win some leagues.

The sit of the week, Justin Herbert, was a smashing success! Herbert and the Chargers offense did awful- tallying only 191 yards of total offense. Now the Jets offense was an absolute disaster coughing up 4 fumbles but even with all of that positive field position the Chargers offense and Herbert did not do much. Herbert’s stat line was 16 of 30 for 136 yards, 0 touchdowns and 3 rushing attempts for 17 yards (7.14 points). This was even worse from a fantasy perspective than I figured for Herbert, I will say I was shocked he did not turn the ball over. Also he was of course able to rush for some yards as predicted as it’s one of the few holes in the jets d. Looking forward to a very important week 10 where there are many key players on bye!

Week 10 Start ’em DeAndre Hopkins – Titans WR

Thank god that Mike Vrabel finally did the right thing this week and named Will Levis the starting QB moving forward. I’m not sure how many people thought Levis would look this good early on, I know I certainly didn’t. But it sure seems like Levis has a bit of an it factor. Some quarterbacks right away when thrown into the fire just seem to have an arm talent and composure immediately. Levis’ arm talent reminds me a lot of Justin Herbert when he began his career; it’s just very obvious to see the type of talent these two have disabled right off the bat. Most importantly what Levis does is take chances and use his strengths; especially his ridiculous arm talent. The biggest beneficiary to this so far has and should continue to be DeAndre Hopkins.

Hopkins of course had the 3 td performance in Levis’ first career start and allowed Hopkins to excel in jump ball situations downfield. The offense under Tannehill simply never had this as he did not take many chances downfield. Hopkins is not an elite separator at this point in his career so it is awesome to see Levis giving Hopkins these high value targets and taking risks. Even though Hopkins only had 4 catches for 60 yards last week against the Steelers I’m not concerned in the least. In fact, I’m actually very encouraged since Levis targeted him 11 times, especially in an offense that is devoid of talent on the outside. This matchup is also just so juicy with Tampa Bay giving up the second most fantasy points to opposing WRs. I like Hopkins as a high end WR2 with WR1 upside this week. Let’s be bold.

Sit Davante Adams Week 10

Week 10 Sit ’em Davante Adams – Raiders WR

This is a tough one to write, especially after all of the good juju coming from the Raiders after firing McDaniels and benching Jimmy G in favor of O’Connell. Personally, I also just bought the dip on Adams for super cheap in a dynasty league so I take no joy in writing this. Adams has been visibly frustrated with his role in the offense in recent weeks and to be fair it’s justified. Adams has had single digit fantasy performances in 4 of the last 5 games and even with the change at QB Adams saw just 7 targets last week. Partifally this is because of the game script in which they dominated a decimated Giant team. I do think Adams outlook for the rest of the season is better currently than with Jimmy G at QB. Neither of them have particularly strong arms but in O’Connell’s first career start this year against the Chargers he did target Adams 13 times in a game script where they were down.

This matchup against the Jets quite simply couldn’t be any worse for Adams though. As many of you know I am a huge Jet fan and I try to keep any biases I have at the door but with that I am very well versed with this defense. Sauce Gardner has had another terrific season and has been lights out this year, we can expect him to shadow Adams for the majority of the game. In the event sauce isn’t shadowing him on every single snap, DJ Reed, is also a great corner in his own right. The secondary as a whole has limited opposing fantasy WR’s to the least amount of points in the entire league. I know how hard it is to bench one of your top picks when things haven’t gone right all year. All Adams owners, myself included, are hoping that Adams picks it up. But we can’t just hope when the facts are staring us right in the face. We need to bench Davante Adams this week. Expect the Raiders offense to lean heavily on Josh Jacobs and keep things simple for their new rookie QB in an attempt to limit mistakes in what should be a very low scoring game. It takes some big cajones to bench Adams for much inferior names and I know it’s not easy. But just like I benched puka for Douglas last week you too can bench Adams this week.
