In this blog post, we’ll look at the skincare trends to avoid in 2023 so you can make sure your skincare routine is up-to-date and suitable for you. Whether you’re new to the practice or simply looking for an update on what not to do when implementing your regimen – this article will help guide your decision-making process. So, keep reading if you want tips and advice on navigating through unwanted product suggestions as well as information on which products have proven their worth over time!

Simple Is Always Best

Before looking at a few skincare trends you should avoid in 2023, it is worth noting that having a simple skincare routine is the best option for your skin. There is a good reason why many dermatologists promote and talk about simple skin care routines: they work. An example of a simple skincare routine is washing your face, applying moisturizer, and using sunscreen.

When it comes to moisturizers, go for one that uses natural ingredients and a wrinkle-free formula. While it will help replenish your skin, the wrinkle free formula will fight premature signs of aging. Millions of people worldwide use this three-step skincare routine with fantastic results, especially if you use the correct products for your skin type.

Creating Your Own Products

The first skincare trend you should avoid in 2023 is creating your skincare products. This trend has seen a lot of popularity on social media platforms, especially TikTok, where users are sharing their formulas for skin care products they have created.

While this might sound incredibly tempting, since it is definitely cheaper than buying skin care products from a store, it can have unforeseen consequences. For example, skin care products available in a store are created for specific skin types, and when you create your own skincare products, you won’t have the knowledge to do this.

Stripping Pores

You have probably seen the many satisfying videos of people using pore strips over their noses to remove stubborn blackheads. While it might seem intuitive if you want to remove the blackheads from your skin, it is quite damaging and dangerous.

This is because the pore strips available in commercial stores like supermarkets widen your pores even more. Yes, they remove blackheads – but widening your pores makes it easier for dirt and pollutants to enter, leading to more breakouts.

Contouring With Sunscreen

Another skincare trend you have undoubtedly seen on social media platforms like TikTok would be people using sunscreen to create contours on their faces. While this might seem very clever, it’s bad for your skin.

This is because the effectiveness of the sunscreen that is being used is reduced when mixed, and even though it might seem like it is working, you are receiving more UV rays. The same look can be achieved with a fake tan, which is much safer.

Vaseline Coating

There is a trend in 2023 that involves people using petroleum jelly or Vaseline to coat their skin for hours on end. The idea is that you can combat dryness and lock in moisture by coating your skin with petroleum jelly.

One of the consequences of doing this that many dermatologists who have backed it don’t mention is that it can trap dead skin cells and debris, resulting in breakouts. Instead of not allowing your face to breathe, you should focus on a simple skincare routine that uses a moisturizer.

Peel-Off Masks

Finally, the last skincare trend in 2023 that you should avoid is peel-off face masks. Like pore strips, while these are effective, they are also quite damaging to your skin. Peel-off masks have become incredibly popular over the last few years, but they can result in a lot of irritation if you suffer from things like acne, eczema, or rosacea.

This is because when you remove the mask, you can remove the top layer of your skin. This top layer of your skin is vital since it is a protective layer of oils. Naturally, if this layer is removed, your skin will be more susceptible to environmental factors.

They say that hair oils are not the best and most effective idea, although for several years I’ve heard that oil is what will make my hair live and shiny. Now the same thing is happening with body care. I don’t care, I found the amazing Vanilla Body Oil which really makes my skin soft. And vanilla is my favorite flavor. Well, definitely one of them.
