Moore v Weinsteins - Fahrenheit 9/11 Filmmaker Sues for Profits

The L.A. Times is reporting that world-famous filmmaker, Michael Moore, is suing Bob and Harvey Weinstein over profits Moore feels he is still due from the success of his film, “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

The Weinsteins formed a company titled Fellowship Adventure Group in 2004 to distribute Moore’s wildly successful documentary film about the events and aftermath of the terrorist attacks in the U.S. on September 11, 2001. Moore claims that the Weinsteins, via the Fellowship Adventure Group, illegally withheld some of Moore’s share of the profits from the film. The film, itself, grossed $119 million a the box office, and Moore is seeking $2.7 million in compensatory damages.

Moore claims a complete audit has not been done on the financial status of the film and is asking for one in the lawsuit.

The Weinstein’s lawyer, not surprisingly, is denying all allegations by Moore.
