"Take That Wig Off"

Do you want the truth? Or something beautiful?

Over the weekend I attended a charitable event promoting
Alopecia Awareness hosted by Bold, Bald, and Beautiful, Inc.  As I listened to the stories of those
living with Alopecia, I began to think about all the people who wear “wigs”.  Some wear wigs to cover their laziness, kinky
hair, new growth, bad hair color and desperation for a perm, but there are
those who wear wigs to cover their baldness. 
“Baldness” can be embarrassing, reveal and expose a condition not asked
for and depending on where you are, it can be an attention grabber.  People stare, diagnose, feel sorry and
sometimes ridicule or make fun of those, especially women who are bald.  In efforts to avoid any of these types of
treatments, many women and even men decide to wear a “wig”. 

As I listened to Jimmie Sanders (Founder of BBB), speak on how
she embraced her condition and allowed it not to embarrass but empower her, I
was truly inspired.   Because she embraced Alopecia, she was
empowered to start “Bold, Bald, and Beautiful, Inc.”.  Because she embraced Alopecia, she was empowered to start a
company that makes custom wigs for not only women with Alopecia, but those
women who are too lazy to comb their hair. 
Because she embraced Alopecia, her condition allowed her not only to
take the “wig” off her head, but her life as well.  Will Jimmie ever wear  a wig again? 
Probably so, but not as a cover up of her “condition”, but to promote
her “empowerment”  “Hair By Jimmie”….

The truth is… Embracing your condition “empowers” you to
make change…   At some point in life we’ve all worn a “wig”
or two; some of you still have them on. 
You wear “wigs” (facades) to cover up your troubled past, scars, emotional
damage, unhappiness, hurt, bitterness, depression, molestation, sexual
addictions, food addictions, and the pain you’ve carried around for years.  In efforts to cover it up, you bring
attention to your condition.  You see “wigs”
if not custom fit, looks strange.  Custom
fitting allows you to size up your head (problem), sculpt a base (solution),
and create a hair design (healing) that compliments your look.  People who wear store bought “wigs” (facades)
only mask and cover up their “baldness” (condition).  Try being bold, taking off your “wig” and
allow being “bald” expose your “beauty” (healing).  #BoldBaldAndBeautiful
