Is It My Turn Yet?

Another year has gone by and for many if not all of us we start
reflecting. We think about what we have accomplished and what we haven’t. We
think about why we haven’t accomplished what we thought we could in 12 months.
Wondering how another year slipped by without taking
the necessary steps to making our dreams come true. We vow just
like last year not to let that happen again. We vow that this is the year that
you will do you. This New Year will be all about you and no one else.

That idea may work until someone ask you to help them with
something. You immediately say yes because you don’t want to
disappoint them. You don’t want to feel guilty for saying no. Your back to
were you were the year before. You’re back to putting you on
the back burner to help someone else fulfill their dreams. Back to doing
things that have nothing to do with you or your goals. Back to
being busy making sure everyone else is taken care of. Making sure other
people’s dreams are fulfilled. Your back to wondering “When Is It My
Turn?”.

The Truth Is… It’s been your turn, you just have to take it. No
one is stopping you from being first in line but you. You decide how many times
you’re going to allow someone to cut in front of you. It’s not people’s intent for you to put a stop or hold on you’re life to help them with
something they have going on. In most cases people are not concerned with what
you have going on. They have their eyes set on their
goals. Truth be told most times they don’t even ask. That’s where you come
in. You have to decided whether or not what you want is more important. Once
you make the decision that it is that’s when you say “I’m sorry I
need to focus my attention on…. I’m not going to be able to help you out at
this time”. If that person is your friend they will understand
and be encouraging and supportive. If not then you just have to move on and not
feel guilty because you said no. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with
helping people. That’s what you’re suppose to do in life. However you’re not a
bad person when you make the choice to choose yourself over someone
else. Someone that doesn’t understand that may not need to be in your
life. You can’t continue to put all things pertaining to you to the side.
While you’re helping and making someone’s dream a reality. You’re dream is
still just that a dream. 

Think about standing in a long line for lunch you only
have an hour to get back to work. How do you think you’re going make it
back in time if you keep allowing people to cut in line before you. What
makes their time frame and job more important than yours. You make others a
priority over you. You are just as important as the next person. Your dreams
and goals are important because they are yours. Stop letting people skip
ahead of you. Now is your time. Everyday is your turn. Be first in
line to make things happen in your life.
