Are we on the wrong end of a tainted water conspiracy?

One has to wonder just what it will take for Americans (that’s US citizens) to come out of their  stupor.  Regardless of whether you believe the world is coming to an end, or that this is just a “bump” in civilization’s rough and rocky trail, it is clear that something is happening. The food we eat and the water we drink aren’t as “pure” as we think, thanks to drinking water contamination, agricultural run off,  and urban water treatment plants that are not designed to remove pharmaceuticals and chemicals.

Either we are anesthetized and drugged into loopy complacency, or our media is tuning out the outrage and substituting the televised and printed version of Nero’s carnival.  Job loss—so many people have lost jobs and have been unemployed for so long that they are no longer looking for work.  Youth in the cities urban hellgrounds have the highest rate of unemployment in the nation—it’s so high, that in many places, the idea of going to a 9-5 job and picking up a paycheck has become a foreign concept.

The underground economy continues to grow.  Drug sales—not the ones you see reflected in the nation’s stock ticker, now rival Fortune 500 company revenues. Every day, local news media floods us with tales of meth arrests, ghetto girl gangsterette fights and public housing dope arrests, while the national Big Brother Broadcaster lays more reporters off, having long since deep sixed investigative journalism for more titillating fare—whether the former beauty queen made porn films on the side, who’s trending on the Idolatry network, and what’s the  latest buzz on jailed celebrities.

The “conspiracy theorists” have been saying “there’s something in the water” for years, and most mainstream news outlets, not to mention our  friends and neighbors have dismissed them outright.  Turns out, there IS something in the water.  There are a lot of “somethings” in the water, things that our filtration and sanitation systems aren’t designed to handle.  By accident, or by design? One has to wonder.

When we talk of social engineering, most of us don’t think of the water we drink.  We may talk about propaganda, slanted news reporting, and various incarnations of international conspiracies, but we don’t think about the water. We don’t think about water treatment plants that don’t filter ag chemicals, residual pharmaceuticals and household chemicals.

Water, our life essence, as essential as the air we breathe, is now so tainted that it contains drug residue that our bodies have excreted. No we don’t talk about that.  We don’t talk about the millions of Americans who are on psychotropic, mind-altering drugs.  We don’t pay attention to the wars and insurrections that water shortages have generated.  We don’t talk about the internationalizing of water supplies through multi-national company acquisition of local water supplies and treatment plants and the consequence of having foreign, multi-national companies in control  of our water treatment plants.

In 2007, the New York Times reported that, “the British government reported that eight commonly used drugs had been detected in rivers receiving effluent from sewage treatment plants.” (April 3, 2007)  In May of 2009,  the Daily Green noted that the drugs and chemicals we used on a daily basis often end up in our water supply. 

The particulates from our own medicated bodily fluids are so fine that there are no water processing plants in the world that can trap them, and so, to be perfectly frank, your neighbor’s Viagra, your daughter’s birth control, your uncle’s HIV/AIDS medications, your grandmother’s diabetes drugs, your minister’s pain medications, your teacher’s thyroid supplements, your dog’s fleaand tick protection, etc., are all ending up in micro doses in the water we all brush our teeth with every day. Synthetic chemicals, plant hormones, bleach, cosmetics, antibiotics, agricultural runoff  and drugs eventually wind up in our water supplies.  Pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, and the residue of illegal and prescription psychotropic drugs find their way into our water supply, excreted out of the body into the sewage system, and re-ingested via our drinking water supply. What are all of those chemicals, synthetic hormones and drugs doing when they meet in the water?

While many conspiracy theorists claim the CIA is spiking our water with drugs, we don’t  have to go that far to find the source of drugged water. Natural News reported on an AP analysis of the nation’s water supply. 

Analysis of tap water supplies in major metropolitan areas conducted by the Associated Press has revealed that the water supply in 24 major U.S. cities — serving over 40 million people — are contaminated with trace amounts of pharmaceuticals including antibiotics, anti-seizure medications, anti-inflammatory drugs, psychotropic drugs, pain medications and even caffeine. The upshot of the report is that tens of millions of Americans are unwittingly being subjected to a bizarre medical experiment with unpredictable results. No scientist can say for certain whether long-term exposure to micro doses of multiplepharmaceuticals is safe because such an experiment has never before been conducted on any population. (AP)

The analysis points to a frightening conclusion: nobody knows what happens when all of these chemicals and drugs combine in our bodies over time.  Do they have a synergistic effect and amplify each other’s traits?  Do the combined drugs and chemicals create new diseases, affect our cognitive and biological processes?

Who knows.  Perhaps we should stop worrying about what a crazed terrorist could do to our water supply and think about what the chemicals that are already in it are doing to our minds and bodies.
