When the vapor trail surfaced over the sky of California it sparked a heated debate not only in the city but across the United States. Those who were witnessed to this not so unusual phenomenon got deeply intrigued. Many thought it to be a missile fired by some enemy country to destroy America. Pentagon was deluged by inquiries. Initially Pentagon was not able to react to the incident.

The delay from its side led to confusion and panic. When the video clip was shown to some defense expert they said it must be a missile.

Things would have gone out of control had the Navy and Army not gone on record to announce that no missile took off from any of the bases in the USA. Many people took a sigh of relief over this report. But still many conspiracy theories continued to float. Of them the most lurid one came from Colleen Thomas who is known in California as queen of conspiracy theory.

She said that the missile was fired by Iran and it was an ICBM. The purpose was to destroy some American cities. But when reminded why it didn’t hit any city, she said it was intercepted by the Pleidians. There were other weird theories also.

This is nothing new in America. Since the September 11 incident, Americans have become extremely careful about any such incidents. A few months back when a series of balloon had appeared on the sky of New York, many thought it as UFO. This time too many Californians thought that aliens must be making effort to land on America. However, it was nothing like that as civilian experts were the first to announce that it was nothing but airplane.

Later on a Pentagon spokesman Col Dave Lapan also issued a statement, saying: “There is no evidence to suggest that this is anything else other than a condensation trail from an aircraft.”
