AM New York Exec Parties With, Then Tries to "Strangle" Girlfriend

Ron Spears, the advertising director at fairly-priced free newspaper AM New York, was arrested last week for trying to strangle his girlfriend.

Keith Kelly reports that Spears, who previously worked for the LA Times, was out partying with his girlfriend at Tao earlier this month. After they returned to her apartment, Spears is “alleged to have brandished a frying pan, pushed his girlfriend to the ground and attempted to strangle her while screaming, ‘I am going to teach you not to mess with me,’ according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.”
