Psychics and their predictions usually trigger derision. Few people believe in such things. As long as some of those predictions begin to come true. But when a Bulgarian psychic and healer spoke, people listened. She became known for her predictions of global catastrophes that have been achieved. Who’s Vanga, the Bulgarian psychic and healer who became famous for her predictions of world disasters that have achieved?


Translated from the Greek her name means “bearer of glad news.”


Vangelija Dimitrova (maiden Panda, her husband Gusterova , and, after the death of Dimitrov) was born in Strumica (today’s territories, Macedonia) 3.oktobar 1911. She spent her childhood in very bad  misery. After the death of her mother, a 3-year-old girl, was left to live with her father in more difficult conditions. Later, her father remarried and small Vangelija got three more brothers and one sister. 1923, her entire family moved to New Village. When she was 12 years, something happened that forever changed the life of this extraordinary woman. One sunny day, while she was played with her brothers near her home, a sudden strong wind it was lifted her into the air, and then dragged on the ground. The villagers found her a few feet away from the place from which the wind lifted her  up from the ground. Since that event she got blinded. After the accident she revealed the gift of prophecy.

In the House for the Blind in Zemun she spent 3 years. After her marriage she settled in the Bulgarian town of Petric.


She predicted the number of events starting with the bombing of Belgrade 6th aprila 1941. She is predicting a death of Bulgarian King  Boris who had visited her the year before his death, an earthquake in Skopje, the fate of Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro, the exact date of death of her husband, and her death.

She died on 11th August 1996, and was buried in the church of St. Petka in the presence of then President of Bulgaria.



Although she was born in the former Bulgaria, much of her life she spent in rural mountainous areas Kozhuh.

She was illiterate, so her prediction wrote down her friends. She claimed that her paranormal abilities have to do with invisible beings, who sent her information about space and time.

Not only she could predict but, Vanga also  healed people, but only through herbs and natural medicine. According to what she was saying , people should be treated only with plants that grow in the area where they live. She  was not against the standard  medicine, but felt that the use of synthetic drugs is bad, because they “closed door through which the nature of the body strikes a balance.”

Vanga is also claimed to “see and speak” with people who have died before more than 100 years. Although reluctant, she spoke about the distant future. She said that we will  in 200 years  establish a connection with aliens, many of which have already been living on Earth. They come from a planet called Vamfim that is”the third planet from the Earth.”

Her supporters say she knew the exact date of her death, and she said that her “successor” 10-year-old blind girl from France which will soon come out. When in 1980. Wang saying: “At the end of century, and 1999. or 2000. yr, the Kursk will be covered with water, and the world will cry over it, “everyone believed her prediction is crazy because they think she awas referring to the city. When in August 2000, the Russian submarine Kursk sank, Vanga’s words were  very meaningful.


In  1989. blind old woman said: “Fear, terror. American twins will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. Wolves will howl in the bush, innocent blood will be shed. As Vanga predicted, September 2001, the World Trade Center towers, the popular “twins” were razed to the ground in a terrorist attack.The president at the time of the attack was George Bush, which explains the bush (Eng. bush) in the prophecy.


Vanga predicted perestroika in the Soviet Union, and the death of Princess Diana. There are rumours about how she during the Second World War, had Hitler visited her, as well as he walked out from her house visibly upset, and it is speculated that he predicted his inglorious end.



In a Russian newspaper, in May this year, a collection of some of the prophecies Vangelia Gushterove , better known as Baba Vanga was published.
