While the average American can be a mayor or even governor, rising to higher positions without the proper wealth or connections, would be virtually impossible for someone who came from nothing. Therefore, political equality is simply a nice word and not an actual right.

We can also look at the Obama’s health care bill (which is highly unpopular) being shoved down the peoples throats, despite their opposition. This also infringes on the peoples economic right, to be forced to buy something takes away personal freedom of choice and could be considered a slippery slope to communism (the bad kind).

Many bills have been passed and signed into law in the early morning hours, with no votes and most people being totally unaware of what just happened until it becomes law the next morning. Take the patriot act, Signed into law while you were fast asleep in bed, no vote, no critics, no nothing.

Here’s a short list of what you lost in it:

• FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigations.

• FREEDOM OF INFORMATION: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records questions.

• FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information related to a terror investigation.

• RIGHT TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes.

• FREEDOM FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES: Government may search and seize Americans’ papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation.

• RIGHT TO A SPEEDY AND PUBLIC TRIAL: Government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial.

• RIGHT TO LIBERTY: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them.

I don’t want to give the wrong idea, we enjoy many freedoms and are very lucky to have them but, we are losing them at rapid rate and only we the people can stop it. It is up to the people to make this happen; the people must get out to vote, the people must stand up, make their voices heard, their blogs read, get out and shout enough! You are the resistance.
