Most celebrities keep their age as a top secret thing. Now, the real stars in space does the same thing too. Take a look at our Sun out there, how can we tell if a star is 10 or 20 billion years old? We may be able to find that out after all.

We need to know about the star’s
age to understand about how planetary
systems form.

Astronomers may have found a solution to this problem by measuring the star’s spin. This is because of the fact that a star’s rotation slows down steadily with time. Think about the spinning top on a table. And this new theory might help us find the true age.

How can we understand and study about a star without knowing its age? All those astronomical studies and planet huntings require this information. We need to understand the star, its age and the planets around them to understand how the planetary systems form and evolve.

Learning about a star is easy if the are surrounded with many other stars that formed at the same time. This technique only works with star clusters. This technique does not work with stars outside of clusters.

This new discovery might help us know more about the stars and how the planetary systems are formed.
