New Noah's Ark Being Built By The Amish In... Kentucky?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

In a scene straight out of “Evan Almighty,” a religious group including Amish carpenters is re-building Noah’s Ark to exact biblical specifications in the farmlands of Kentucky. But the group is not claiming it’s for protection against a coming deluge, but rather proof that Noah was capable of the task thousands of years ago.

“The message here is, God’s word is true,” said Mike Zovath, project manager for Answers in Genesis, the Christian ministry undertaking the project in Hebron, KY. “There’s a lot of doubt: `Could Noah have built a boat this big, could he have put all the animals on the boat?’ Those are questions people all over the country ask.”

The massive project will be a centerpiece at a controversial theme park/museum that has already drawn fire for its refusal to accept modern scientific dogma, and representing ideas according to a strict belief that the Bible is literally true…

Very cool I bet they do it.

They’re the Amish. Nice, decent people. They want to build this thing to test a theory, sure, why not??
Amish Theme Park/Museum…come for the Ark, and stay for the food. If you’ve never experienced Amish cooking…you’re missing out.
It’s also a little more fun than a conventional Barn-Raising I’ll bet, too.

…and it gives the Amish kids something better to do than act like hoodlums and drag-race their horse-buggies at all hours.
Just joking, I know some Amish and enjoy their frienship.

I wonder who will have the last laugh?

I have always thought the Amish had an extra “sense”

I think they call it wisdom

Noah had a lot bigger trees to work with, he wouldn’t have had the problem of it cracking in the middle. It also took him 120 years to build that thing.

Well Noah didn’t have power tools…hmmmm….wonder if the Amish have power tools!!!!

    • Blackwinter

Power tools…Few, if any at all.

    • Reality

    • Smoke and Steam

LOL, there’s a reason why wooden ships only got so big.. ie it’s impossible to build one the size of the Queen Mary ocean liner, the size of the ARk according to the bible. The largest wooden ships built were so unstable they corkscrewed, so had to hug coast lines in case a storm sunk them.

Surely nothing is impossible with the right approach? Knowledge of different timbers, using a lattice grid to strengthen the sides etc.

It worked ok for the wellington bomber and that took some hammer.

There will be a way to do it but maybe we don’t have the entire knowledge yet?

      reality

      how apply named you are

Yes, they will need some of that to fertilize their first crop

Note: they could be the ONLY ONES doing so

    • Blackwinter

Succeed or fail, I still think the effort they’re making is laudable. besides, it gives the younger Amish practice and experience in woodworking and gives their community something to gather around. Never a problem for the Amish, but it’s always nice to see community projects.

All they are saying : If you don´t want to swim….. peace
