An Insultingly Ironic Campaign Slogan

Who can forget the last time around, when a perfect political storm allowed Barack Obama to get away with it. The “it” is, of course, the most ridiculous campaign of vacuous “hope” and “change” ever conducted, if not in the history of democracy, then certainly in the history of elections conducted amid a host of momentous problems and threats. However, the campaign’s embarrassing deficiencies notwithstanding, it can be argued unknown candidate Obama chose the only possible winning strategy, given that his leadership credentials amounted to zero and real-world life experiences to a few years of serving as a frustrated “community organizer” or bewildered state legislator wildly voting “present.” But what is there to say about President Barack Obama of 2012, whose slogan “Change Takes Time” (emblazoned on T-shirts currently available even in “juniors” size) screams he fully intends to reprise his shtick of ’08 in the current campaign?
