Israel advised to brace for Syrian missile attack – Conventional or Chemical ~ link ~ This DEBKA article is typical of the Israeli mindset which includes the amazing ability, especially in a smart people, to totally self-delude oneself while playing a multidimensional strategic game. Rather like playing ‘Space Chess’ with blindfolds on. On one hand they know full well that the issues of war with Iran and war with Syria and war with Hezbollah/Lebanon and the CIA/Zionist created Arab Spring are all interrelated. Yet when it comes to real dangers to Israel, they divide the dangers and refer to a “Syrian” missile attack. When the coming regional General Middle East War begins Israel will be facing 150,000 (and perhaps a true number that is larger by several times) missiles and rockets. There is no way that the Israeli anti-missile systems, augmented with the best that American can/has sent them, can put more than a dent in that number. Recent Iranian test firings show that Israel’s enemies now have high long-range accuracy and are capable of sub-munition delivery. What that means is that the Iran/Syria/Hezbollah alliance can and will lay such a rain of firepower down on tiny Israel that it will be effectively wiped out. The Israelis self-delude themselves that there will be a repeat of the Second Lebanon War and that of Saddam’s missile barrage during the First Gulf War. What they forget is that both the Hezbollah and Iraqi fire was simply a successful demonstration of the ability to ‘deliver ordinance on target’ without using the ‘heavy stuff’ (Advanced Conventional warheads such as Fuel Air Explosives; Chemical warheads including biotoxins; Advanced Biological and Biological warheads; radiological warheads including those using advanced glues to make decontamination almost impossible). After Iraq, Libya, etc., and the repeated warnings that have fallen on deaf Israeli/western ears, the Iranians, Syrians and Hezbollah/Lebanese know damn good and well that this coming war is a war for survival and/or the total destruction of all sides. Iran’s war games this month showcased missiles with improved accuracy and firing capabilities, The Associated Press reported on Friday, based on Iranian media reports.

Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards conducted the exercise in the central desert, firing ballistic missiles including a long-range variety meant to deter an Israeli or U.S. attack. The targets were models of foreign military bases, and the exercise’s stated goal was to show that Iran’s missiles can hit Western bases and Israel.

Dangerous game: US almost daring Tehran to strike first – with video ~ link ~ With sanctions against Iran gradually showing their ineffectiveness, Washington is escalating the situation in the Persian Gulf, as if encouraging Tehran to attack first, a US politics professor told RT.

“The more warships the US moves [to the region], the more threatened Iran is going to feel and there is more chance of triggering some kind of mistake,” explains Patricia DeGennaro, professor of politics at New York University.

She says the act of sending more warships to the region is a dangerous game of “dare”. “I don’t know what they are going to achieve by putting more warships in the region. This is a very bad move. Maybe they are trying to make Israel feel safer, but in fact again that is a very dangerous game that is almost daring somebody to strike first,” the professor believes.

Is Assad threatening Israel? ~ link ~ Had the reports that Syria’s regime is taking chemical weapons out of storehouses reflected reality, they should have raised concerns around here. Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Army Chief Benny Gantz have already declared that Israel is closely monitoring Syria’s chemical and biological arsenals for fear that President Bashar Assad will order their transfer to Hezbollah in a desperate move before he falls – or worse, use these arms himself against Israel in a suicidal gesture.

However, for the time being it appears that Syria’s regime is not significantly changing the location and deployment of its chemical and biological weapons. At most, they are being moved to safer bases and storage areas, far away from regions controlled by the rebels or sites of battles.

Turkey now confirms that the RF-4 was not shot down ~ link ~ The General Staff of Turkey’s Armed Forces on Friday backed down from its previous claim that its fighter jet was downed last month by Syrian forces. “The actual cause of the incident will be established after the plane wreckage is raised from the seabed,” the General Staff said in a statement. “No traces of explosives or flammable products were found on the debris recovered from the sea.”

According to some media reports, the F-4 Phantom probably crashed due to human error after the pilots failed to perform an evasive maneuver to avoid the Syrian missile.

However, no sooner had the US-sanctioned account of events been released than it fell apart. At the same time, he’d have to make sure Greece would continue to receive the flow of bailout billions from taxpayers elsewhere.

But roundly ignored at the Eurogroup meeting, he returned empty handed to Greece. A fiasco for him. In a meeting with leaders of the three-party coalition government—the conservative New Democracy, the socialist PASOK, and the small Democratic Left— Evangelos Venizelos, PASOK leader, former finance minister, and extortionist par excellence, was apparently furious with him and hollowed out his power. The infighting begins.
