New Mom Gets High On Bath Salts

A Mother who police say was high on blizzard went crazy while in the Altoona Regional Maternity Ward.  Blizzard is one of several ways to refer to a new, legal designer drug that anyone 18 or older can buy at gas stations and smoke shops.

Carla J. Murphy 31 years old went crazy after taking the legal drug and became aggressive.  She kicked and punched both nurses and police after stripping naked in the bathroom.  Carla was able to sneak the drug into the hospital using a dimantled black ink pen.  Because Murphy already had outstanding warrents in Blair county they took her to the Blair County Prison on a probation violation.

While she was there a children, youth, and families caseworker for Blair county searched the home escorted by police officers and found illegal drugs and paraphernlia.

Carla J. Murphy was charged with possession, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and several drug charges.

I feel like with all these stories coming out we have to start the debate. Do we continue to pursue making every designer drug that comes on the market illegal taking up time and endless amounts of legislation, when the fact is for everything the government makes illegal someone will find a loop whole, or do we talk seriously about legalizing marijuana.  These bath salts and other legal drugs are being sold as an alternative to the illegal marijuana which is far less dangerous.
