Things Appear Larger in the Mirror

At midnight on July 20, 2012 a madman walked into a packed movie theater and opened fire on the unsuspecting, unprotected crowd.  Intricately timed with a scene from the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises playing on the movie screen a man clad in SWAT-style riot gear, a gas mask and carrying multiple firearms caused the worst mass shooting in the U.S. since a Muslim Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, on Nov. 5, 2009 at Fort Hood, Texas killed 13 soldiers and civilians and wounding more than two dozen others.  Although eyewitness to Hasan’s actions reported he was shouting “Allahu Akbar!” before embarking on a bloody rampage, most reports stopped including that fact.[1]  TV news stations in the mainstream media have been covering the Colorado Theater shooting story from a very specific mindset.  Various Internet bloggers and news sites are looking at angles mainstream media isn’t.  My goal isn’t to reinvent the wheel here but to hold a “mirror” up to what is being reported.  I believe we may see some things that weren’t seen before.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

 In looking at this story with a mind obsessed with detail and looking to expose the works of darkness I believe I’ve seen things that demand our analysis.  I am not stating anything or accusing anyone, or any group, but what I am doing is reviewing the facts and asking questions when things do not line up.

Some initial facts in the news reports caught my attention.  First, how was the accused gunman James Holmes able to get into the crowded theater from an internally locked exit door?  Apparently someone had to open that door for the gunman to enter as he did and an eyewitness claims to have seen someone go down toward that door minutes before the shooting started.  Here is what the unnamed eyewitness told TV station KCNC this morning live on their newscast.

“As I was sitting down to get my seat, I noticed that a person came up to the front row, the front right, sat down, and as credits were going, it looked like he got a phone call. He went out toward the emergency exit doorway, which I thought was unusual to take a phone call. And it seemed like he probably pried it open, or probably did not let it latch all the way. As soon as the movie started, somebody came in, all black, gas mask, armor, and threw a gas can into the audience, and it went off, and then there were gunshots that took place.” [2]

If this eyewitness is telling the truth, and at this time there is no reason to suspect otherwise, there is an accomplice involved in the shooting.  Has the mainstream media mentioned this?  No.  They repeatedly tell us over and over that the shooter, allegedly James Egan Holmes, acted alone even though local Denver media is reporting police are looking at a suspected accomplice.[3]  I’ve not heard the mainstream media report that one witness said he saw a second can of tear gas that didn’t come from Holmes’ side.[4]

This has shades of the Oklahoma City Bombing and the mysterious accomplice, John Doe 2, eyewitnesses saw Timothy McVeigh with but has never been found or reported on since in the mainstream media. [5]  After briefly mentioning John Doe 2 the mainstream media followed the FBI’s lead and reported over and over that the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was done by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols.  For the most part, we are told what to believe by the mainstream media even when the facts they present do not add up.  Even the families of the OKC bombing do not believe the official report.[6]  That, for the most part, goes unreported.

Eyewitnesses to the theater shooting state that they thought it was a “stunt”.  This eyewitness states to Matt Lauer of NBC Today’s Show he saw someone walk toward the exit door just before the shooting started.[7]  From this account we can see Matt Lauer’s question about the shooter being the one who walked to the door and came back into the theater as the gunman.  Matt misses the obvious by not following up with the fact that the manner in which the shooter was reportedly clad would have taken more than just minutes to get dressed.  The gunman, wearing what Aurora Police Department officials described as nearly head-to-toe “ballistic gear,” including a throat protector and leggings, plus a gas mask and a long black coat, came in through a parking lot exit door near the screen of Theater 9.  “He walked in so casually,” said a witness, Jordan Crofter, 19, a Batman fan who had gone with a group of friends and had a seat in the front row.[8]

In my opinion, he could not have walked outside in street clothes and came right back in within minutes in full SWAT-style riot gear as describe above by the Aurora Police Department.  And yet, that is exactly what we are told to believe.  A federal law enforcement official has stated that Holmes bought a ticket to the show, went into the theater as part of the crowd and propped open an exit door as the movie was playing. The suspect then donned protective ballistic gear and opened fire, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation.  At some point, the gunman appeared to have stepped outside because several witnesses saw him come through the door.[9]

So, let me get this straight Mr. Federal Law Enforcement Official, the suspect sat down in street clothes, took a phone call, went to the exit door and in minutes came back in full SWAT-style regalia carrying multiple weapons and gas canisters to initiate his attack?  And, if I am correct, no one could see the face of the shooter underneath the gasmask in the midst of the smoke of multiple gas canisters could they?  One theater goer, Chandler Brannon told ABC’s “Good Morning America that because of the smoke, he didn’t get a good look at the shooter but saw a silhouette of a person with a gun.[10]  Julia Nguyen, 17, said she saw something fly across the theater, which she thought, at first, was a stink bomb, and then saw a flash.  Then she saw the gunman.  “He was absolutely quiet. He didn’t say a word. He just started firing rounds,” said Nguyen, who ran out of theater as fast as she could with her friend, Erin Post, 15.  Post said the gunman fired round after round.  “It just kept going and going and going. Like bam after bam after bam,” she said. “Between every flash you could kind of see a gas mask.” (emphasis added)

So, how do they, or you, know for sure who the shooter was?

We are then led to believe that the alleged shooter, 24-year old James Holmes, a former graduate student in neuroscience with no formal military or law enforcement experience, no apparent training in firearms and no ties to any known terrorists groups casually walked through the theater shooting with the proficiency of a marksman.  In the midst of smoky pandemonium he calmly shoots his victims, reloading and changing weapons while on the move.  The suspect casually marched up the aisle in the stadium-style theater, easily picking off those who tried to flee, witnesses said.  The shooter is alleged to have used a military-style semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun and a pistol, stopping momentarily only to reload before continuing his murderous rampage.

“He looked like an assassin ready to go to war,” said Jordan Crofter, a moviegoer who was unhurt in the attack early Friday, about a half-hour after the special midnight opening of “The Dark Knight Rises.”  “He would reload and shoot and anyone who would try to leave would just get killed,” said Jennifer Seeger, adding that bullet casings landed on her head and burned her forehead.[11]

As someone who has some experience in the use of weapons, and also knows many who are proficient in shooting from their military or law enforcement experience, have a hard time believing that the alleged shooter James Holmes could be such a proficient killing machine and then meekly wait for law enforcement in a nearby parking lot, giving up without a fight.  Who would then inform law enforcement that his apartment was booby trapped in such an intricate manner that one official said it was unlike anything he had ever seen before.

“Our investigation determined his apartment is booby trapped with various incendiary and chemical devices and apparent trip wires,” Chief Oates said around midday Friday. “We have an active and difficult scene. It may be resolved in hours or days. We simply don’t know how we’re going to handle that.” Federal law enforcement officials said that the apartment had been so extensively booby-trapped that the devices could not be safely defused and that a robot would be sent to trigger them.  It is a very vexing problem how to enter that apartment safely,” Chief Oates continues, “Personally I’ve never seen anything like what the pictures show us is in there. I’m a layman when it comes to bomb stuff. I see an awful lot of wires. Trip wires. Jars full of ammunition. Jars full of liquid. Some things that look like mortar rounds. We have a lot of challenges to get in there safely.” [12]

He supposedly initiates this carnage of death and mayhem and then sits quietly in a nearby car park waiting to be arrested, meekly surrenders and warns the police his apartment is booby-trapped.[13]  Holmes was detained by the police soon afterward, standing by his white Hyundai.[14]  Police arrested the suspect who they believed acted alone about an hour after the attack began who surrenders without incident.[15]  Does that sound right to you?

We are supposed to believe that 24-year old James Holmes went from an 18-year old  at a science camp at Miramar College in San Diego a young man whose “goals are to become a researcher and to make scientific discoveries” to the shooter on July 20^th.  He supposedly went from enjoying “playing soccer and strategy games, and a dream to own a Slurpee machine” to the Colorado Theater Shooter in 6-years without anyone noticing or any actions indicating such a dramatic change.  That Holmes had recently been one of 6 select people at his school given a grant for those who “will make significant contributions to neurobiology” who then walks away in June to plan a mass murder?[16]

If so, let’s get the answers to explain that to the public!

According to those who knew him, this sudden violent rampage was completely out of character for James Holmes, who was described as “shy.”  According to the NY Times article, Holmes seemed to be an ordinary, if not socially awkward, geek.   Billy Kromka, who is also from Aurora, is a premed student at the University of Colorado, Boulder, who worked with Mr. Holmes for three months last summer as a research assistant.  He said, “There was no way I thought he could have the capacity to commit an atrocity like this; Holmes’s “disposition was a little off” and that he could be socially awkward, one of the quieter people in the lab. He spent much of his time immersed in his computer, often participating in role-playing online games.[17]  This socially awkward computer geek has a criminal history with the Aurora Police Department of one traffic summons, for speeding, in October of 2011.

Neighbors who knew Holmes as a high school student in San Diego called him a mysterious “loner.” When asked if he believed Holmes showed any signs of a man who could be days away from going on a shooting spree, Jackie Mitchell, who shared a beer with the suspected gunman at Aurora’s Zephyr Lounger on Tuesday, said, “no, not at all.”  “He seemed like a well-educated, book-smart type of person,” Mitchell said. “The picture they showed on the news, that’s the picture you see when you’re talking to him. He had a little smirk like he’s intelligent.”[18]

There are media psychologists claiming that the ignored geek did this to get attention.  Most mass murderers or criminals seem to use the Internet to make sure they are well known once they are captured.  Why then is Holmes an online ghost?[19]  There are no profiles to be found of Holmes in ANY social network media.  We are asked to believe that he went from unemployed graduate school dropout and in 60-days acquired an estimated $20,000 worth of weapons, ammunition and equipment while transforming into an expert killing machine.  So far there are no reports of his presence at any gun ranges or at any online gun enthusiast sites or forums.

I also have another question.  While many liberal leaning politicians, such as NYC Mayor Bloomberg[20], are calling for stricter gun laws no one is asking how one person could buy so many weapons and 6,000 rounds of ammunition in such a short period of time without triggering any of the data bases supposedly monitoring such purchases.  Why wasn’t Holmes red flagged for an inappropriate amount of purchases in such a short period of time?  However, within minutes of the event The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) was able to give information on where and when the guns were purchased to the police in Aurora.[21]  Shouldn’t we be asking why aren’t the laws already in place to protect us aren’t being enforced?

The Cinemark Theatre in Aurora, as in all Cinemark Theaters nationwide, is a gun-free zone.  Cinemark Holdings Inc. owns 459 theaters and 5,181 screens in the U.S. and Latin America – including the Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colo., scene of the mass shooting.  As someone who is licensed to carry a concealed weapon I have always wondered about such a scenario.  Because of their policy Cinemark Holdings endangers its customers.  If they are unwilling to pay for off duty police officers, as they were that night in Aurora, they should be held liable for such events.  Captain Oates says that Aurora Police often station off-duty officers at the theater, but there were none on duty that night.[22]  If someone who can legally defend themselves is restricted from doing so there should be some form of liability involved.  I would hope one of the families victimized by this event would hold Cinemark Holdings liable for their loss.  The shooting could have been limited if someone else in the Aurora, Colo., movie theater had been carrying a gun, Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert said in an interview.[23] I agree with Rep. Gohmert.  Although licensed concealed carry owners may not have stopped the event completely they could have, in my opinion mitigated the damage.  If nothing else, it would have given people a chance to defend themselves from the shooter if they wanted to.

As I looked at this event in a mirror that causes things to loom larger I came up with a much more troubling question.

Is it possible that this was a staged event and James Holmes is not the person who was in the SWAT-style gear shooting up Theater 9 in Aurora, Colorado?

Was he the one who opened the door to let the waiting shooter in and calmly went to his Hyundai parked nearby to await the police?

At the time of his arrest, police said Holmes was wearing a riot helmet and bullet proof vest. Police said he was also carrying a gas mask, tear gas and three guns — an AR-15 assault rifle, a Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun and a 40-caliber Glock handgun, with another 40-caliber Glock handgun in his car.[24]  And yet, numerous reported eyewitness accounts were that he had red hair like the Joker, Batman’s archenemy.  If he had on a riot helmet and gas mask in a tear gas clouded theater how did anyone see either his face or his hair?

It appears to me that the mainstream media reports create more questions than they do answers.  Will we ever know the truth about this shooting and the alleged shooter James Holmes?  Court records relating to the case, like the windows into Holmes’ apartment, have been concealed by court order.   Within 24-hours of the event officials of the FBI is assisting with the local investigation told CNN that it did not appear that the incident was related in any way to terrorism.[25]

Almost immediately the mainstream media, especially ABC News, wanted us to believe that the shooter was tied to the Tea Party.  They also did this with Jared Loughner, The Arizona Shooter suspected  in the attack on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.  Instead he was tied, according to Fox News who quoted a Department of Homeland Security memo, that stated Mr. Loughner is “possibly linked” to American Renaissance, which DHS says promotes views that are “anti-government, anti-immigration, anti-ZOG [Zionist Occupational Government], anti-Semitic.[26]  It would later be discovered that that gunman Jared Lee Loughner was a left-wing, pot-smoking liberal who was into dressing like the grim reaper and dabbling in the occult.[27]

Almost as quickly ABC News had reported the shooter was tied to the Teas Party it had to apologize for being wrong.  “An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect. ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted.”[28]  However, they did not follow up this report with another report that James Holmes has been acknowledged by the Occupy Movement to be a part of their Black Bloc.[29]  Although the post has since been taken down others were able to obtain it.[30]  Why isn’t the mainstream media, especially ABC News, following this story line?  Or, are they reading from a script handed to them by someone, or some group, higher up?  Why are they not doing what news people are supposed to do – dig for the facts?

Is it possible that the timing this horrific shooting coinciding with the United Nations vote on a Small Arms Treaty known as Arms Transfer Treaty (ATT) that would supersede the Second Amendment is a just coincidence?  The United Nations will debate this week, in a New York convention, the creation a global registry of private ownership of firearms.[31] This treaty also mandates the creation of a national collection agency for those guns, contrary to the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment, has the long-standing and enthusiastic backing of the Obama State Department, headed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.[32]

These are questions that many will refrain from asking as the country mourns the 12 victims of this horrendously evil event.

Questions that will be lost in the midst of those who will politicize the actions that took place in Theater 9 at the Cinemark Theater in Aurora, Colorado.

If we are going to live up to Ephesians 5:11 to “expose the deeds of darkness” we have to start by asking questions.  Questions, it appears, according to the mainstream media, we are not supposed to be asking.

However, we cannot help but to ask these questions as the things we see in this case appear larger in the mirror we hold up to it!
