3 Year Old Violates School Weapons Policy with Name Sign

Zero tolerance has crossed over into the realm of zero intelligence.  The politically correct just keep getting more ridiculous.

A public school in Nebraska has banned a 3 year old boy, who is deaf, from using the handsign for his name because……….

the hand sign resembles a gun…

Yep, that’s right.  Little Hunter Spanjer’s parents have been informed their child’s name sign violates the school’s weapons policy.  The school board’s policy 8470 prohibits the students from possessing, handling or transmitting a “firearm, weapon” or anything that “looks like a weapon.”

Therefore the signal, based on American Sign Language, is prohibited.  Hunter’s father stated, “It’s a symbol. It’s an actual sign, a registered sign, through SEE.” (Signing Exact English)

The Huffington Post quoted  Howard Rosenblum, the CEO of the National Association of the Deaf .“A name sign is the equivalent of a person’s name, and to prohibit a name sign is to prohibit a person’s name.”

Apparently this little boy’s name sign is such a threat to the school that it has been requested he change it.

His father has started a Facebook page to gather support for Hunter, so he can keep his name.

Have we become so hysterical about guns that the mere suggestion of a gun is enough to force a little boy to change his name? Could an item guaranteed as our right by the second amendment strike such fear into the hearts of the school authorities that they feel the need to disallow a child the use of his name?

Demonizing a hand gesture meant to represent someone’s name epitomizes the brainwashing of the public school system.  They want our kids to grow up fearful of guns, to follow the most ridiculous rules without question and to disregard all aspects of critical thinking. This is how good little worker bees are manufactured.

In a country  full of park rangers and meteorologists ordering hollow point bullets, veterans being demonized and committed for thought crimes and the NYPD opening fire and injuring more people than the criminal, isn’t there a little bit more to worry about than the hand sign for a little boy’s name?
