Atrocities Against Free Speech: Reports That Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood Have Tortured & “Crucified Those Opposing Egyptian Pres. Morsi,” Say It’s a “Religious Obligation” (video)

Despite the lock down on news of these recent atrocities, a number of media sources in the Middle East are reporting that these inhumane stories are indeed true, and are describing the fatwa and jihad issued against those who are critical of the new Egyptian president. Last week during a rampage, it was reported that the members of the Muslim Brotherhood has tortured and “crucified those opposing Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi naked on trees in front of the presidential palace while abusing others.”

Are these horror stories true about the Muslim Brotherhood crucifying opponents to newly elected Egyptian Pres. Mohammed Morsi?

According to Islamic sources, per Sharia law, this course of barbaric retaliation is perfectly acceptable. Coptic Christians and Jews in Egypt could be next, and many are fleeing the nation. For now, according to Middle Eastern sources, radical Muslim Brotherhood supporters are targeting “secular media” to silence criticism.

Reminder: Pres. Barack Obama applauded the June Egyptian election results putting Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood into power. He also gave $1.5 billionof US taxpayer dollars to the Muslim Brotherhood, bypassing Congress to do it. That was in March, and was in addition to the $2 billion that America gives every year to the Egyptian government. Obama also reportedly threatened any opposition to the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood with the withdrawal of all US aid.

The Arab Spring takeover of Egypt by the Muslim Brotherhood has run amok, with reports from several different media agencies that the radical Muslims have begun crucifying opponents of newly installed President Mohammed Morsi.

Middle East media confirm that during a recent rampage, Muslim Brotherhood operatives “crucified those opposing Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi naked on trees in front of the presidential palace while abusing others.”

Raymond Ibrahim, a fellow with the Middle East Forum and the Investigative Project on Terrorism, said the crucifixions are the product of who the Middle Eastern media call “partisans.”

“Arabic media call them ‘supporters,’ ‘followers’ and ‘partisans’ of the Muslim Brotherhood,” Ibraham said.

Ibrahim also says the victims can be anyone, including Egyptian Christians.

“It’s anyone who is resisting the new government,” Ibrahim said. “In this particular case, the people attacked and crucified were secular protesters upset because of Morsi’s hostile campaign against the media, especially of Tawfik Okasha, who was constantly exposing him on his station, until Morsi shut him down.”

Ibrahim said extra brutality is reserved for Christians, but the crucifixions are because of Islamic doctrine and are required by the Quran. The time and other details about the crucifixions were not readily available.

Center for Security Policy Senior Fellow Clare Lopez cited chapter and verse from the Quran to explain that crucifixions are not simply normal for Islam, they’re demanded.

“Crucifixion is a hadd punishment, stipulated in the Quran, Sura 5:33, and therefore an obligatory part of Shariah,” Lopez said. “It’s been a traditional punishment within Islam since the beginning, even though it’s not exclusively Islamic. The Romans used it too.

“So, the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood haven’t the option tonot include crucifixion within their legal code. It’s obligatory to comply with Shariah. And yes, it’s for shock value also to be sure,” Lopez said.

Lopez includes a warning for Egypt’s Christians and compares the coming treatment of the Christians to the Jews in Germany.

As the Muslim Brotherhood continues to solidify its ever-expanding power in Egypt, several Arabic news agencies — including Arab News, Al Khabar News, Dostor Watany and Egypt Now — are reporting that opponents of the Muslim Brotherhood were “crucified” in Egypt last week, the Algemeiner reports.

While we can’t independently verify the accuracy of the various reports, crucifixion would signal a significant shift in tactics in the way the Muslim Brotherhood deals with opponents.

Additionally, “Militant Muslims crucifying their opponents is a regular feature of the Islamic world–recent cases coming from the Ivory Coast, where two Christian brothers were crucified, similarly by supporters of a Muslim president who ousted a Christian; Indonesia, where Islamic separatists crucified a fellow Muslim for being a military informant; and in Iraq, whereMuslim militants crucified Christian children.”

According to Koran, crucifixion is proper punishment for anyone who “makes mischief in the land.”

“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this: that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off…” (Koran 5:33).

It may also be important to note that an Egyptian MP recently proposed to institutionalize Sharia’s most brutal punishments— including crucifixion.

“In short, under the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, the bottle has been uncorked and the Islamic Genie set loose. Expect much worse to come,” Ibrahim concludes.

Last week in Egypt, when Muslim Brotherhood supporters terrorized the secular media, several Arabic websites — including Arab News, Al Khabar News, Dostor Watany, andEgypt Now — reported that people were being “crucified.” The relevant excerpt follows in translation:

A Sky News Arabic correspondent in Cairo confirmed that protestors belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood crucified those opposing Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi naked on trees in front of the presidential palace while abusing others. Likewise, Muslim Brotherhood supporters locked the doors of the media production facilities of 6-October [a major media region in Cairo], where they proceeded to attack several popular journalists.

That there were attacks and violence—both in front of Egypt’s presidential palace and at major media facilities—is well-documented. An August 9 report by El Balad, a widely read Egyptian website, gives the details:

Last Wednesday, August 8, “thousands of the Muslim Brotherhood’s supporters” attacked 6-October’s media facilities, beat Khaled Salah—chief editor of the privately-owned and secular Youm 7 newspaper—prevented Yusif al-Hassani, an On TV broadcaster, from entering the building, and generally “terrorized the employees.”

El Balad adds that the supporters of Tawfik Okasha, another vocal critic of President Morsi—the one who widely disseminated the graphic video of a Muslim apostate being slaughtered to cries of “Allahu Akbar”—gathered around the presidential palace, only to be surrounded by Brotherhood supporters, who “attacked them with sticks, knives, and Molotov cocktails, crucifying some of them on trees, leading to the deaths of two and the wounding of dozens.”

Far from condemning these terrorists, Al Azhar, Egypt’s most authoritative Islamic institution, has just issued a fatwa calling for more violence and suppression, saying that “fighting participants in anti-Muslim Brotherhood demonstrations planned for 24 August is a religious obligation.”

Most of the aforementioned Arabic sites point out that these attacks are part of the Muslim Brotherhood’s campaign to intimidate and thus censor Egypt’s secular media from exposing the group’s Islamist agenda, which Youm 7, On TV, and Okasha do daily. [Note: the latter's channel was recently shut down, despite Morsi's previous reassurances that "no station or media will be shut down in my era."]

These threats are not new; back in April, an organization called the “Jihad Group to Cleanse the Country” threatened these media with “painful and severe punishments.” Apparently now that Morsi has become master of Egypt, threats are becoming reality, just as promises are being broken.

‘During a recent rampage, Muslim Brotherhood operatives crucified those opposing Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi naked on trees in front of the presidential palace while abusing others,’ reported WMD, quoting Middle East media.

Raymond Ibrahim, a fellow with the Middle East Forum and the Investigative Project on Terrorism, told the website ‘the crucifixions are the product of who the Middle Eastern media call partisans.’

The Algemeiner backed up the claims and said that several news outlets including Arab News, Al Khabar News, Dostor Watany, and Egypt Now reported that people were being ‘crucified.’

They said the Muslim Brotherhood supporters were specifically targeting ‘secular media.’

In March 2012, Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) spoke out on the congressional House floor to address the report that the Obama administration would be giving $1.5 billion in military aid to the Muslim Brotherhood.

While there is not much Congress can do to alter the president’s wide latitude in pursuing wrongheaded foreign policy, they can cut off funds for his radical agenda. In his FY 2013 budget proposal, Obama asked for $770 million to fund the “Arab Spring” governments in the Middle East and North Africa. This is on top of the $2 billion annually that has already been promised to whatever unsavory government is put into power by the freedom-loving Egyptian people. Congress must ensure that not one penny of US aid is sent to governments supported by the Muslim Brotherhood or other radical Islamic interests.

Unfortunately, Democrat and Republican appropriators in the Senate already approved Obama’s full request for aid to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood government. In addition, they opened a new account with $1 billion allocated for the Arab Spring governments. The House bill does not contain the new Arab Spring funding, but it continues to allow money to flow to Egypt as long as the State Department can confirm that they have transitioned power to a democratically elected government. But what good is that if the democratically elected government is the Muslim Brotherhood? Moreover, both the House and Senate bill grant the Secretary of State waiver authority on national security grounds. We’ve seen that rodeo many times before with funding for the Palestinians.
