Police chiefs adopt drone code of conduct

The nation’s police chiefs have adopted a code of conduct for their use of drones, including letting any images captured by unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, be open to inspection by the public, and that the images not be stored unless they are evidence of a crime or part of an ongoing investigation.

The chiefs also said that if they plan to fly drones over an area where they are likely to spot criminal activity and where they would be intruding on someone’s “reasonable expectations of privacy,” they should seek to get a search warrant first.  (click title to read more)

Are we to really believe that this “code of conduct” will be honored or, if honored, last very long?

The purpose of these drones is to spy on Americans (when they are not killing foreign terrorists and those unfortunate enough to be nearby at that moment).

FAA Documents Show Drones Over US Pose Huge Safety Risk

Recently released FAA documents have raised yet more questions surrounding the opening up of US skies to unmanned surveillance drones.

Group says drones are being used to spy on Americans

POWAY (CBS 8) – A local veterans group says drones are being used to spy on Americans, and they are protesting to stop it.  Some say the use of the technology is Big Brother gone too far.

They’re coming: In a few years the skies over the United States will be filled with hundreds if not thousands of of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, doing a variety of tasks — border security, disaster relief, search and rescue, counter-terrorism and looking down on people and streets on behalf of police departments.  (click title to read more)

Can there be legitimate functional uses for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)?  Absolutely there can be.  However, as soon as they are weaponized and used for spying on Americans in their own home or on their own land we enter that area known as invasion of privacy.

Some may say that if you have nothing to hide there is nothing to worry about.

I say, that if we’ve done nothing wrong and are not hiding anything it should not be used.  The downside to erroneous home invasions, arrests and harm to law abiding society outweighs the crime fighting benefits.

This is a topic to keep our eyes open to, so the LIGHT is staying on!
