GOP…Don’t Give Them Ammo!

In light of several stories highly criticizing Republican Congress members and member-wanna-be’s, I have a few rules they may want to follow if they are to survive this election. Obviously, we all have a vested interest in regaining the Senate and keeping the House, not to mention taking back the damn White House. But in order to do so, the GOP is going to have to play by a few rules.

1. Keep your pants on please.

No one wants to see your Congressional business. Just ask Anthony Weiner. But removing your pants unless you are about to take a shower or have happy fun time with your wife, is always a bad idea.

Politico is reporting, “the FBI probed a late-night swim in the Sea of Galilee that involved drinking, numerous GOP freshmen lawmakers, top leadership staff — and one nude member of Congress, according to more than a dozen sources, including eyewitnesses.”

And trust me, the FBI “probing” anything is likely not fun for anyone.

The trip was over a year ago and Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-Kan.) decided to disrobe and jump into the Sea of Galilee. Yes THAT Sea of Galilee, as in Jesus walked on water here fame. It’s a Christian holy site. And although I completely understand on some points because there are several Jewish men that would also make me want to disrobe, but I’m not in Congress. Getting naked isn’t necessarily a crime.

Which brings me to this point, why is the FBI investigating this? And why now?

The now is easy, it’s an election year. The “why” I haven’t the first clue. My friend rightly stated it seems like evidence of abuse of power. We’ll just have to wait and see where it goes. But for now, please Congress members, keep your damn pants on.

2. Don’t say stupid things about rape. As a matter of fact, don’t talk about rape at all.

I’m sick to death already over hearing Missouri Senate hopeful, Rep. Rep. Todd Akin’s words “legitimate rape” at every freaking turn today. And here’s a news flash, the Dems will make certain we hear about it for at least the rest of this entire week. I get that someone could say they were raped in order to obtain an abortion when in fact it may have not been a “legitimate rape”. But, sadly, Akin had to add “from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

It made him look foolish. And frankly, we can’t afford that. Now does he really believe a woman’s body has the ability to “shut that whole thing down” when being raped to prevent pregnancy, or was he making a completely boneheaded misstatement.

Congress members need to be very clear on where they stand when it comes to their views on abortion in cases of rape or incest. The Democrats have waged this “war on women” rhetoric and they would like nothing more than for any member running for office to be caught off-guard by questioning them on the topic. This is nothing new.

State where you stand. Let it be recorded. And then move on. Where you stand is where you stand and the people can make the choice from there on whether they support it or not. And that’s that. Stay away from it, it’s a ticking time bomb because it is a controversial issue and will always be a controversial issue.

3. That little thing called being “above reproach”.

This is what pisses the left off concerning Mitt Romney and now Paul Ryan. Right now, they remain above reproach. They love their wives and families. They don’t cheat. Or from all the evidence we have, they don’t. I learned the hard way, never say they’d never cheat. They pay their taxes, regardless of what Harry Reid and his imaginary friend says.

That’s why they have been hitting Romney up so hard for his tax returns. They already have a strategy in mind. Romney has paid his taxes, he’d be a complete moron to run for President and not. John McCain only released 2 years of taxes. It’s enough. The left is trying to portray Romney as the out of touch white guy. Which I don’t really give a crap if he is out of touch or not. America is sinking fiscally. So do we want a guy who is good at finances? Ummmm, hell to the yes!!

They all need to remember, everything they say or do, can and will be held against them in the court of public opinion. Every little action or word needs to be carefully thought out.

4. It’s about character.

Lastly, we want and need men and women with good moral fiber running our country. We’ve witnessed what happens when someone completely void of all character attempts to run a country. And it sucks.

This isn’t the time for self-motivation. This isn’t the time to just “look good”. This is the time to be men and women who are sacrificing a lot to bring true honor to our country by serving it and not themselves. And like the great Stan Lee wrote…yes I’m calling on all nerds here…”with great power comes great responsibility.”
