Ruling By Decree: Obama Orders Affirmative Action for School Discipline; Race-Based Punishment Quotas

As we’ve learned all too well over the last four years, the Obama White House often chooses to sidestep Congress through the issuance of Presidential Executive Orders. During his first term the President has issued numerous orders that give the government Executive permission to seize private property and labor during a national emergency, take over the country’s natural gas supplies, and to inject themselves into Americans’ personal lives through lifestyle behavior modification programs.

For President Obama, ruling by decree is, apparently, business as usual.

In his latest order, the President has single handedly determined that the methods by which public schools discipline children is racially biased, and therefore must be reformed in such a way that the playing field for all children is equal.

The new executive order signed by President Obama is called an Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, and according to a White House press release, is designed to focus on “cradle to career” education programs that prepare African Americans for high school graduation, college completion, and productive careers.

According to President Obama, executive order 13621 has been issued “so that every child has greater access to a complete and competitive education from the time they’re born all through the time they get a career.”

Bill Whittle of PJTV doesn’t agree. Whittle argues that one of the provisions in the order does exactly the opposite and amounts to nothing short of affirmative action for how school disciplinarians will soon be forced to handle punishments, suspensions and expulsions. Specifically, Whittle takes aim at the provisions which states the new initiative will be overseen by a government panel that will promote “a positive school climate that does not rely on methods that result in disparate use of disciplinary tools.”

It turns out, you see, that black students get more suspensions and expulsions than white, Hispanic, or Asian students. And so rather than try to see if there is, in fact, a racial bias here, Obama has cut right to the chase and stated that there would be, essentially, punishment quotas that cannot be exceeded.

Hans Beider, a former official in the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights says that “what this means is that whites and Asians will get suspended for things that blacks don’t get suspended for.”

So, how would you feel if your children come home from school suspended or expelled for a minor infraction in order to balance out a maxed out racial class who’s reached their punishment quota?

As is the case with most every piece of legislation making it’s way through the halls of the D.C. legislature and the White House, the language is often left purposefully broad and open for interpretation (and execution). In this particular instance, if Mr. Whittle and the Trifecta’s assessment is correct, we’ve entered a new era in government indoctrination, political correctness and the nanny state.
