US Postpones Japanese Beef Imports Over Radiation Testing Concerns

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The US has order a halt to the resumption of Japanese beef imports over concerns about Japan’s testing methods.

The US has further postponed the resumption of Japanese beef imports over concerns about Japan’s method of testing the beef.

Japan assert all the beef slotted to be exported are below official safety levels.

However, levels of radiation considered to eat in Japan now were considered to be nuclear waste requiring special disposal before Fukushima.

The move comes as tests continue to show elevated levels of radioactivity in Japanese beef and scientists have confirmed a sharp increase in genetic mutations in butterflies blasted by the Fukushima nuclear fallout.

Date: Aug. 17, 2012

Japan has been forced to put off resuming beef exports to the United States at the last minute, due to US concerns about effects of last year’s nuclear accident.

Shipments were due to resume on Saturday starting with cattle processed that day.

Japanese beef exports to the United States had been suspended for over two years after an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the southwestern prefecture of Miyazaki.

But Japanese officials say the US side requested a halt on Thursday, saying it wanted to check how Japan is inspecting beef and managing feed to prevent radioactive contamination.

Exactly WHY are we importing beef from Japan to begin with ? We have enough of it right here in our own country but not the way McDonald’s see’s either, they have to buy there beef from Brazil. It’s time to put an end to this importing what we already have right here in the U.S.A.
