Violent Means Will Never Achieve Peace

This photo was shared by some ‘lawyers for law enforcement’ page. If you can see, a comment by Chris Parrish states:

“My opinion is that all departments’ chase policy should be two words… ‘STOP THEM!’ Doesn’t matter how, just get them stopped ASAP. For Interstate chases I’d propose turret mounted .50 caliber guns mounted to the bottom of every overpass. ”

It never ceases to amaze me when people encourage the police to use more violence, as if the numerous horrific acts of violence initiated by various government employees everyday aren’t enough.

If you call for more violence from public officials, you are calling for more violence against your friends, family, and loved ones. You are calling for more violence against yourself, and millions of people you have never met.

I, for one, want to live in a world that is peaceful. I have concluded that all interactions ought to be voluntary, and that the initiation of force is wrong, regardless of who you work for. It is impossible to achieve peace with violent means.

What kind of world do you want to live in? Unless your answer is a violent world, I would strongly suggest thinking critically about what your tax dollars fund, what type of actions you tolerate, and what you are willing to pay for.

Privatizing protection and other services many deem necessary will allow you to choose what services you’ll pay for and withdraw your consent from those you do not want, or the people and actions you believe to be wrong.

I do not consent to the initiation of force, nor would I like to pay anyone’s salary who acts in such a manner.

While some may view memes like the ones pictured above and find them to be merely humor, remember, the amount of force used and justified by those working in government is increasing, surely and steadily. If you do not believe me, browse some of the other posts here on CopBlock.org. Nonetheless, I’m more unsettled by all of the comments on the photo encouraging more violence from public officials.
