Get Fired Up About Liberty!

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

With the Ron Paul campaign fading out and without much of a clear direction as to where the Liberty Movement should go next, besides fully supporting Gary Johnson which I advise, I think we should get FIRED UP ABOUT LIBERTY! Now is the perfect time to get excited about new libery goals and attain them.I recently traveled to the American Museum in D.C. where the words “land of the free, home of the BRAVE” jumped out at me. It was amazing to see how much passion some people could have for our beautiful country. I also watched the film “Red Dawn” from the 80s which had a scene where a bunch of Americans sang “America the Beautiful” before being shot down by fascists in a firing line. That’s the kind of courage we need to have again!

Even within liberty movements, I have seen people tend to unproductively agree with each other. What happened to American dissent and radicalism? People are NOT right about issues as a group – only individuals who have decided to step outside of the corruption around them have been able to call for reform and revolution. It was the American colonies standing up to the British and saying, “No, we won’t take your tyranny anymore!” which lead to our American freedom. And, only about 1/3 of the population was interested in doing that, while another third was indifferent and the last third was still loyal to the crown. Christians know of Jesus when he denounced the hypocrisy of the scribes, Pharisees and religious leaders of his day, some of which preached difficult sermons but didn’t even lift so much as a finger to help solve some of the problems that the people were encountering. Jesus didn’t go along with the crowd and say that everything was fine as it was, but challenged the status quo without being rebelliously immoral.

Will we stand up for what’s right? We don’t have to solve the world’s problems – for example, Jesus didn’t solve all of Christians’ problems. The Founding Fathers didn’t solve all of the U.S.’s problems. But how can we meaningfully contribute to the world and do our part? Are we excited to fight for justice, truth, liberty? Is our heart still passionately there like it was for those patriots who have died for our country? Are we living and dying for what we love? Do we have little distractions which prevent us from loving what we love as much as we could? Can we sacrifice a little more for the good of others? There is always work to do! What should we be working on now, in the liberty movement?

Can we express our emotions? Or will we continue to snub them out because it’s not cool to cry or get angry about the things we love which are being attacked? Does it ever make you break down and sob at the loss of life of these meaningless wars we are fighting today? Do you ever want to scream out of frustration at the next round of oppressive legislation being passed? Can we translate those powerful emotions into productive action? Hit ‘em where it hurts! Get the votes, get the offices, get people to put their heads and hearts and wallets in the right place. How’s our fighting spirit? Getting refreshed?

Think about the kind of world we want: people freed from the jails for the nonviolent drug “crimes” they’ve committed, families with their military men rather than them being in the harm’s way of battle, a currency WORTH something that we feel happy to have, a productive and free society where exciting and interesting things are able to happen - without the fear of saying something controversial and being hauled off to jail. These aren’t abstractions! I see things every day where I think, “what if we were free to do THIS?!” The more concrete you get about your visualizations, the more motivated you can be to take action. The Bible says that “with a lack of vision, the people perish”. So dream big and remember that “goals are dreams with deadlines”. Let’s set some new goals and march on towards them with all our might!

Let’s keep our chins up and eyes on the prizes.

Let’s step it up as leaders, and let’s go bigger!
