PROMETHEUS & THE LONDON OLYMPICS

I don’t really know what got me started down this ‘olympics conspiracy path’. It could have been the news that Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” was ‘rushed through production’ to ensure a summer 2012 release date (after stalling several times before). It could have been the very tragic and determined death of Tony Scott off of the Vincent Thomas in San Pedro. It could be that they’re actually handing over the flame of Prometheus during the torch relay. It could be that Prometheus is obviously more symbolic a story than we usually get in supposedly-non-Communist (big C) western cinema.

In the same way that Prometheus presents obvious and glaring visual references to its biomechanoid progenitor Alien (1973) making it a real and unashamed Alien prequel in every sense, it hints at an intimate link to the ZION-like visual inspirations celebrated by this years London Olympics.

Note: statue above, Prometheus held captive by a RING depicting the ‘Orrery of the sky’ via the astrological signs on its surface. Notice also the MOUNTAIN OF MADNESS behind the flying titan, reminiscent of Guillermo Del Toro’s cancelled Lovecraftian film. And here we go…

The SERPENT: aka the Hammerpede. Came from nowhere (well, some random worm) in the film. Was never explained (here, kitty-kitty) though there might have been an unfilmed scene. The serpent translates as the esoteric core of the City of London, i.e. The River Thames. In the centre of the Eastenders snaking image of London’s River Thames, you’ll notice a BIG WHITE DOT under the B of BBC. That is the O2 Centre, constructed in 2000 shortly after the Millennium Bridge and the London Eye. So, lots happening prior to 9/11…

The OLYMPIC RINGS: there are five of them. In Prometheus there’s a FLYING RING (called the Juggernaut). This vehicle rises into the sky just like the forged ring of the Olympics Opening Ceremony did, rising like an angel to meet its four brothers. This was mirrored in Prometheus with the FIVE ANCIENT-BURIAL-MOUND-LIKE SILOS or weapon stores on LV-223, where each contained a RING-LIKE Juggernaut. The ‘derelict’ (if you’ll remember from Alien) that housed the enigmatic ‘Space Jockey’ had much straighter arms.

The ORRERY: there’s also a sculpture of another titan, ATLAS at the Rockefeller Centre in Chicago which looks like the Juggernaut control system the Space Jockey activates. In the film it’s depicted as rings within rings. Oh, let’s have a look if there are five of them.

In further ramdom research, you’ll find this image depicting Prometheus and Atlas and the Hammerpede sharing space on a Greek stamp for 4.5 drachmas. But what does it all mean? Nobody is giving much of a clue – in the Director commentary Scott goes on about ‘the look’ of the thing. In the Writer commentary, Lindelof and Spaigt talk about how an original vision was rewritten then that version suppressed to ease in a sequel.

The shooting script for Prometheus has been widely criticised as being TOO BAD TO BE SUITABLE for such a simple concept as a prequel to a 1973 film, with dreadful lines delivered by a confused cast. So, Prometheus is something other than a reminder of how the ESJ or Elephantine Space Jockey got chestbursted (which is still never explained, as promised) in the original Alien.

MANKIND IS BUT A BRIDGE: remember Peter Weyland’s TED conference speech sourcing from Nietsche’s Thus Spake Zarathustra on the whatis10.11.12 promotional website advertised after Prometheus’ end credits?  Well, this is where the Tony Scott connection is most vivid, and lurid. In ancient Druidic times, every new bridge was founded with a Human Sacrifice. Tony Scott JUMPED FROM HIS BRIDGE the month 20th Century Fox announced Prometheus 2 to the world. What does the 10th of October 2012 really hold for mankind? What SACRIFICE will we be asked to make? Apart from narrative cogency, this time…

Prometheus may be symbolic of something else, some other ‘corporate story’ involving world events and the Privatisation of the Human Genome. Let it be noted that the London Bombings happened THE DAY AFTER the London Olympics was announced on July 6th 2005. Similarly, the 9/11 event happend THE DAY AFTER Donald Rumsfeld announced a $2.4 trillion missing from Gov Coffers PLC.
