PVV steunt verzoek heropening ‘zaak Demmink’

De PVV heeft vandaag bij monde van Europarlementariër Lucas Hartong, lid van de VS Delegatie, haar steun uitgesproken aan een verzoek van vier Amerikaanse Congresleden om het onderzoek naar mr. Joris Demmink te heropenen.
Dat deed de fractie door middel van een brief met vragen aan de voorzitter van de VS Delegatie, de Duitse christendemocraat Ehler.
Zaak heropenen
Onlangs schreven drie VS Congresleden, te weten Joseph Pitts, Frank Wolf en Christopher Smith, een brief naar de voorzitter van de VS Delegatie van het Europarlement om de ‘zaak Demmink’ te heropenen. De Nederlandse ambassadeur kwam daartegen in verweer. Vandaag kwam daar een brief bij van de zijde van Congreslid Ted Poe, gericht aan premier Erdogan van Turkije. Het Amerikaanse congreslid denkt dat Demmink zijn hoge positie heeft misbruikt om de zaak in de doofpot te stoppen.
‘Grondig onderzoeken’
Hartong: “Het lijkt me bijzonder belangrijk om deze zaak nu eens grondig te onderzoeken en een definitieve conclusie te trekken. Het gevraagde onderzoek is uiteraard primair een kwestie voor het Nederlandse OM en de terechte druk vanuit de VS zou daarvoor een prima moment zijn.” Hartong wil onder andere weten of Ehler de zaak nu ook echt op de agenda van zijn delegatie gaat plaatsen en op een onderzoek wil gaan aandringen.
Kindermisbruik
Tegen mr. Joris Demmink, secretaris-generaal van Justitie, lopen al jarenlang hardnekkige geruchten van kindermisbruik. Aangiftes zijn door het Openbaar Ministerie echter steeds terzijde gelegd.
