NYC ~Today we decided to take a look around some surrounding areas in Queens first hand.As we began to drive up and down blocks if we could,it seemed that every other street had downed trees and power line ,damaged homes,traffic lights out ,and police / military cars all over to help the communties.In most areas you had to walk on foot to see up close and flooded areas were closed by the NYPD and Fire department trucks because the storm surge climbed 10 feet into local neighborhoods.There were many cars banged up and pushed on sidewalks from the rising waters of Jamaica Bay which is located on the southwestern tip of Long Island in the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, New York City, and Nassau County, New York.It was very dangerous to drive or walk around and many stayed home as advised by Mayor Bloomberg .
