Jeckyll Island Club
In 1910, J.P. Morgan’s Jeckyll Island Club was chosen as the place to draft the plan for control of the money and credit of the American people. This place was chosen because it offered complete privacy and because there wasn’t a journalist within fifty miles. The meeting was so secret that the members all agreed not to use any last names during their two week stay. Instead, they referred to themselves as the First Name Club.
Why all the secrecy? Why a thousand mile trip to a remote hunting club? Because it was to prepare a banking reform which would be a boon to the people of the United States. At stake was the future of the money and credit of the country. Jeckyll Island ensured that a central bank would be established in the United States which would give these bankers everything they had always wanted, absolute power.
“We shall have a world government whether we like it
or not. The only question is whether it will be by conquest or consent.”
Paul Warburg
Paul Warburg was in charge of drafting this plan. This plan would then be discussed and gone over by the rest of the group. Senator Nelson Aldrich was there to see that the completed plan would come out in proper form which he could present to Congress while the other bankers were there to include whatever details would be needed to be certain that they got everything they wanted as well. This would be a finished draft composed during a onetime stay. After they returned to New York, there would be no second get together to rework their plan. This Jeckyll Island plan was a central bank plan and in this country there was a long tradition of struggle against central banks. It began with Thomas Jefferson’s fight against the Rothschild-controlled First Bank of the United States (see our page: Alexander and the First Bank of the United States) and continued with President Andrew Jackson’s successful war against the Rothschilds and their scheme for a Second Bank of the United States (see our page: Andrew Jackson’s Bank War).
Because of this struggle, the main problem the members of Jeckyll Island had to deal with, was avoiding the name “central bank.” For that reason, Warburg had decided upon the name “Federal Reserve.” This would deceive the people into thinking it was not a central bank run by the elite. The fact is, it WOULD be a central bank owned by private individuals who would profit from the American people. As a bank, it would control the nation’s money and credit, therefore, it would control the people.
