When War Games Become War, Really

There is a certain sense of irony that when you train for war, it may actually come along when you least expect it. Sometimes it comes along because it was all part of your plan.

People have a knack of avoiding danger. We are told to avoid dark alleys, poorly lit streets, and dangerous neighborhoods. Ignoring such advice tends to end in sorrow. But what do you do when you intentionally place yourself in harm’s way, knowing that you may be assaulted?

On October 21, in less than 10 days, a major war game scheduled with American and Israeli forces will begin and will last for three weeks. The US Navy and other forces will be present for the training exercise.

Recent developments in the Middle East conflict include the Iranian-backed terror group Hezbollah have been launching drones into Israel, as far as 35 miles within Israel’s borders. Reports also include that the threat of chemical weapons being used by Hezbollah within Israel’s border could be close at hand.

Should a drone strike an American unit during this training exercise, it could be tantamount to a declaration of war.
