1. VERMONT REPUBLIC
The Vermont Republic was organized by Ethan Allen and an independent nation from 1777-1791. They were not recognized as part of the United States by the continnental congress. Theeir capital was at Winsdor then Castleton,they abolished slavery, had its own military forces, postal service and currency and even had a war with neighboring new york over land disputes.

2. FREE REPUBLIC OF FRANKLIN
After several attempts to be recognized as the 14th state of the United States, Franklin declared its independence in 1785. They made peace treaties with the Indian tribes in the area, opened courts, incorporated and annexed five new counties, and fixed taxes. Barter became the economic system de jure, with anything in common use among the people allowed in payment to settle debts, including corn, tobacco, apple brandy, and skins and all citizens were granted a two-year reprieve on paying taxes.

3. REPUBLIC OF MUSKOGEE
The Independent state of Muskogee was established by a Maryland Loyalist in 1799 named William Augustus Bowles. Bowles envisioned a nation uniting the natives american nations of the region into a single entity that could resist the westward expansion of the American Empire. He enjoyed the support of the Creek and Seminole tribes, welcomes runaway slaves and warred with Spain. Muskogee had an armed forces of 3 ships and 400 men but were defeated by Spanish forces at the Seige of San Marcos de Apalache. Bowles was captured and died in Prison and the Capital of Muskogee, Mikasuke, was destroyed by American forces under Andrew Jackson in 1818.
