Although the title to this article may raise a few eyebrows in this article Did The Illegal Criminalization of Marijuana Lead To The Down Fall of America? I will try to share with my readers the real reasons Hemp or its slang term
marijuana was illegally criminalized in 1937.
The main reasons behind the criminilaztion of this wonder plant was due to its wide variety of uses in the manufacturing industry. The Powers That Be feared it could potentially break up major monopolies in the Steel Industry, Oil Business, Hearst’s staggerring Paper Industry, the Clothing Industry and the budding (excuse the pun) Pharmaceutical Industry.
Not too mention its potential for wiping out world hunger according to reports published by the American Medical Association. This plants wide variety of uses and ability to grow in just about any climate reaching maturity in less than six months still has the potential that far outweighs it use as a recreational drug.
With its recent legalization in Colorado and Wahington perhaps we will finally be able to use this plant to enable society to even the playing field.
The Powers That Be (filthy rich) realizing that Hemp could bust up their monopolies, created a campaign to misinform the public and label Hemp as Marijuana, before the 1930′s no one used the term marijuana outside Mexico. The American Medical Association (AMA) didn’t even realize that Marijuana and Hemp were one in the same, until it was too late.
Those that did testify against its criminalization, even admitted before the Ways and Means Committee that they had no idea that Hemp had been labeled as Marijuana, so clever was the deceit. The misdirection and outright lies served the elites purpose well and a bill was passed allowing for the criminalization of Hemp without any debate in Congress.
