Homelessness meets East to West: How America in CA to NY is Failing to Take care of the “Least of These”
social media is becoming the next “big thing.” To mega churches that are
creating more branch campuses, to the latest political campaigns raising over a
billion dollars each, you would think that the poor and homeless would be taken
care of properly. Not if you live in Costa Mesa or New York.
soup kitchens. “My belief is that if we
manage to put the soup kitchen out of business that will go a long way to
addressing the attractiveness in our city that’s creating a huge negative
impact,” Eric Bever said. (CBSLA.com)
Then you have the mayor of New York who now has banned the
public from donating food to homeless shelters! Why you may ask? He says they
need to monitor the food intake of “salt, fat and fiber eaten by the homeless.”

So what does the Bible say about the homeless?
something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a
stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you
clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to
visit me.’
‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you
something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and
invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did
we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of
mine, you did for me.’
left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for
the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me
nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I
was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not
clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in
prison, and did not help you?’
whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
was the church, the body of Christ that helped my family and me. When I became
homeless, the people served in the soup kitchens, the shelters, to Salvation
Army locations and more. But when I see this peril happening here in my America,
I have to ask what have we become? If we the people cannot serve others, we
have truly lost our freedom. This is again another attack on religious freedoms
here in our country. It is time to not only wake up but take action, we need to
pray, fast, and repent of our sins and turn ourselves back to our knees in
worship to Jesus Christ ask forgiveness and then we should never stop helping
others in need. I am a living example of people serving Christ and helping
others. Without servant hood hearts I would not be alive today to tell you this
story of my life. So I leave you with this, will you be remembered for helping
the “least of these” so that others like me can have a chance to live so that
we can get back on our feet and serve Christ by giving back to others later in
life?
