We are currently living on the Katun 4-Ahau and according to Mayan inscriptions, the katun began on April 6, 1993 and ends at the wrap up of the entire Long Count –creation ccle– on December 21, 2012.

Following the prophecy scheme of the cycles of the 13 katuns, we were to expect scarcities and the arrival of great leaders, It is also the time ʻʻremembering knowledge and writing it down.ʼʼ –emergence of the PC–. ʻʻInterestingly, it was during this period that the first encyclopedia was publishedʼʼ.

ʻʻThe katuns did not and do not follow each other in a numerical –sequential– order. Any given katun in the cycle was always followed by a katun that was numbered two less. For example, katun 10-Ahau was followed by Katun 8-Ahau. The katun from which the cycle was said to begin was katun 11-Ahau, this simply means that Katun 10 will not be preceded by Katun 11 but will be followed by Katun 8! ʼʼ
