Hayden’s Note on the Connecticut Shootings, Dead Babies, and US Foreign Policy

Kevin Hayden – TruthisTreason.net

I was approached by a reader of the website last night who lamented on my lack of personal commentary lately.  He added that he had hoped to hear my opinions regarding the Presidential election and other current events, but that TruthisTreason.net had completely ignored politics recently.  I had to agree; I have intentionally avoided the typical political commentary because, quite frankly, I’m moved beyond that for the most part.  For years, I waved my signs, took part in street actions to raise awareness, wrote articles, and took part in the election cycle as a state delegate.

These days, I’ve simply let go of the stranglehold that politics has on so many Americans. It no longer concerns me because I feel as though we are too far gone to ever get back on track, and so aside from the occasional piece on national events, I doubt you’ll see “in-depth” coverage on the Left vs. Right Paradigm; the stage show known as American politics.

However,

In wake of today’s shooting events, I wanted to take a moment to share some opinions and perspectives on not only the direct topic, but the bigger picture, as well.

Connecticut school shooting: 26 killed, gunman dead
The shooting appeared to be the nation’s second-deadliest school shooting, exceeded only by the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007.

Second person in custody in school shooting, law enforcement official says
Another person is being held by police and questioned, an official said.

Shortly after the active shooter incident in Connecticut, President Obama and members of the mainstream media were pouring their hearts out on television, citing the death of these young children as being unimaginable and unacceptable.  Flags were ordered to half-mast at our nation’s capitol, and members of our illustrious government condemned the awful attack, panhandling for any camera or reporter that would capture their tears.

Tragic as it may be for so many young children and babies to have died, or be injured, I can’t recall, at any given time, our President, Speaker of the House, or military commanders mourning the loss of as many as 168 babies that have been killed in unmanned aerial drone strikes in Pakistan during the past seven years alone.  Are these babies not worth tears?  And if not, what sort of cold blooded creature must you be to differentiate American baby deaths and Pakistani baby deaths?

I don’t remember the mainstream media pinning their hearts on their sleeves for the “brown babies” overseas, and so why the difference in coverage? One group of innocent children were killed at the hands of a madman (or two, depending on your sources), and the other group killed at the hands of a man being paid by the US Government to command a remote control gun flying at 160 mph, 7,500 miles away who chalks up the casualties as simply “the cost of war.”

In an extensive analysis of open-source documents, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism found that 2,292 people had been killed by US missiles, including as many as 775 civilians.

The strikes, which began under President George W Bush but have since accelerated during the presidency of Barack Obama, are hated in Pakistan, where families live in fear of the bright specks that appear to hover in the sky overhead.

In just a single attack on a madrassah in 2006 up to 69 children lost their lives.

If this is the cost of war, then why are we also paying bonafide members of al-Qaeda to act as our proxy army?  We hired them for the Libya takeover, where they committed war crimes against a Head of State and we have now extended their services into Syria to do the same.  In both countries, the mainstream media labels them as “local rebels” even though they come from all over: Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, and elsewhere.  These are paid insurgents conducting irregular warfare at the behest of the United States government.  And since we’re on this topic, let’s touch on the NDAA, or National Defense Authorization Act.  In it, it clearly cites that those who support, either physically or financially, known terrorists, can be indefinitely detained by our military or intelligence community.

My question is, “Why hasn’t the Secretary of Defense, the President of the United States, the Secretary of State, and numerous others been detained for their roles in violating the NDAA?”

And furthermore, why do we, as a nation, weep only for the little children who die where television cameras have plenty of opportunity to supercharge their ratings?

Even as we speak, politicians are high-fiving each other for the massive anti-gun ammunition that today’s event has created.  Legislators are cloaked away in their dens, scrambling and furiously writing tomorrow’s speeches for the cameras where they can promote their agendas on banning weapons.  Many people here – many of my readers – disagree on my stance about firearms.  That’s fine.  I choose the Constitutional, Libertarian, Voluntaryist approach to firearms while staying clear of the “Right-wing Nutjob” label.  However, do not become another sheep in the flock, blaming guns for today’s events.  This was the work of a deranged person(s), not an inanimate object.  No amount of legislation or laws will prevent this from occurring again.  Only a well educated, well-armed society will keep these sort of events from happening once more.

People are already offering up solutions to this tragedy. There isn’t one.

Evil people exist. They always will. Some people are simply born broken. They want to rape, kill, hurt, whatever.

You can prepare for them, look out for them, and do your best to be vigilant, but you can’t legislate them or counsel them to not be broken.
