NBC Uses NFL Murder-Suicide Tragedy For Half Time Entertainment To Plea For Gun Ban [VIDEO]
Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn, sadly, has experience dealing with situations like this.
That doesn’t make the aftermath of Jovan Belcher’s suicide after killing his girlfriend any easier for him and his teammates to deal with.
Quinn described a somber scene at the Chiefs facility yesterday, when coach Romeo Crennel addressed the team not long after watching Belcher take his own life
“It was obviously tough for Coach to have to tell us that,” Quinn said. “He really wasn’t able to finish talking to us. We got together and prayed and then we moved on.”
During halftime of NBC’s coverage of the Philadelphia Eagles versus the Dallas Cowboys, NBC Sports analyst Bob Costas made a plea for gun control during his weekly commentary on “Sunday Night Football.”
Responding to the weekend murder-suicide by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, Costas relied on a column by writer Jason Whitlock, formerly of the Kansas City Star, to make a gun-control argument.
“Well, you knew it was coming. In the aftermath of the nearly unfathomable events in Kansas City, that most mindless of sports clichés was heard yet again.
Costas quoted Whitlock’s suggestion that a gun ban would have prevented the tragedy.
The majority of gun-related deaths in the United States are suicides, with 17,352 (55.6%).

I have a feeling that Belcher was either taking psychotropic drugs or strong steriods, both of which have proven to turn ordinary people into violent offenders. Costas makes his money working in the very industry that promotes this sort of horrific act and has the nerve to blame it on a gun. Any man determined to kill someone in front of his own mother would have done so regardless of the method. Costas never mentioned the possible tie between the head injuries and dangerous medications. Hank Williams Jr. was let go as the singer icon for Monday night football due to expressing his right to freedom of speech on his own personal time and not on national tv. Costa needs to go and go now. Yep, he endorses and promotes what is really nothing more than modern day gladiators who keep getting patched up and thrown back into the fray with no one giving one d#mn about their well-being. I hope the whole truth of what drove Belcher to kill comes out and will be a warning to all athletes and kids who wish to enter this career.
