Initial thoughts:
Your post intrigues me so I had to add some initial thoughts. The numerology of Sandy is 9 which is a number of completion, of satisfaction, of attainment. The numerology of Sandy Hurricane is 7 which represents to some esoteric knowledge, mystery, divinity and looking at a satellite photo at 6:45pm you can spot the Fibonacci spiral of the hurricane. The numerology of Sandy Island is 5, representing action and change. The numerology of Sandy Hook is 4 which represents stability and permenance and is also considered an earth number . If the “meanings” were to be read sequentially it may say “a divine mystery that will dynamically change the stability on earth in a complete and predetermined way.”
Like you I am puzzled at the events as a cursory glance at the Internet shows that the removal of Sandy island on maps could be explained by a correcting of a copyright trap, meaning cartographers would put in fake places to trap someone who was copying their maps. That it would be found and corrected now though? Sandy the hurricane is being heralded as worse in devastation and cost than Katrina. What is even more devastating about the Sandy Hook shooting is that the children were supposed to be safe at school. There is an element of entrapment in each of these instances and each three also surround a specific place in that if you put this place on your copied map, you were caught, if you lived in the northeast area you were caught, if you went to school that day you were caught. There is also a suggestion behind this of foreshadowing in that each case has a pre determined outcome as if by design.
These are thoughts only, I do not claim to be a reader or expert.
Another interesting coincidence. New Orleans had Katrina, and then a devastating oil spill. New York, just had Sandy, and now coincidentally, there is a large oil spill in New York harbor which is threatening a bird sanctuary on Staten Island…sound familiar? Are they playing the same cards on New York that they played on New Orleans?
One theory I have read about is that Sandy is Illuminati media code for the Sandman, or the man that keeps people asleep. All of this is happening under the same name and people are so asleep they can’t see it for what it is. They are weird about sending coded messages through the media…their rationale is, if we see the evidence and don’t attempt to stop them, then we are tacitly condoning their actions and hence that enables them to move forward.

What a coincidence I drive over Sandy Creek on the way to town , then cross The Mary River which has sandy shores that disappear when it floods . I pass the Landscape supply yard that has different grades of sand . Next is the cement factory that also has piles of sand wow . Next to it is the sand blasting shop (with sand ) and further on a small alluvial gold mine sorts sand from gold . Common name that sand .

sandy comes from the name sandra meaning “sorrow”
And the Sand-usky scandal. I’m thinking the sands of time. Sand covering up the past.
I also had the same thoughts. . I thought i might add that there was a FEMA drill named ‘Sandy back in 1997 which is possibly another ‘coincidence’
